So I guess do away with with them all, right?

@Jordan2    Mondays are the worst day to go grocery shopping. Most store sales start Fridays. Thats when the flyers show the sales for the week. The biggest shopping day after Saturday is  Sunday. By Monday, the produce,  bread, meat and dairy have been decimated.

Did any of the posters here who constantly stereotype, judge, and malign unemployed people receiving benefits send their stimulus checks back? Because logically perhaps you should have.

@ThinkingOutLoud   I think it's lovely that you're so affluent that you can afford to give money away, but why is it necessary to advertise your generosity on a public forum?

If someone received stimulus money, they aren't that affluent.

As to benefits being a "trap" @ThinkingOutLoud, does that mean everyone receiving Medicare and Social Serurity is going to have something awful happen to them soon, since they are in a trap and don't know it?

First, affluence is subjective. Anyway, I normally wouldn't mention something like this but the post needed a response that demonstrated that not all people fit the narrative that was being suggested.

Government was never supposed to be such a huge safety net and if people really understood where all this leads, people might think twice about signing up.

So, by your very own words that "not all people for the narrative", does that also apply to those who are on unemployment?

This is going off topic so I'll leave that alone.

I always admired the original CEOs of Ben and Jerry's. Their pay was capped at 5 times what their lowest paid worker made.

Has anyone taken into consideration how over 600,000 deaths due to covid (and still counting) may have factored into the available work force?

uhh - haven't most of those been of the retired age-range?

There are plenty of retired people working to supplement their Social Security.

Ya - but too many that died were those that were in nursing homes which wouldn't have affected the workforce issue being discussed.

For sure nursing homes were hit hard and they were obviously not in the workforce.  However,  you mentioned "retirement age range."  I personally know three people who are in their late sixties to mid seventies who were still working just to get out of the house and keep themselves occupied.  Being in that at risk age group when they were called back to work they were not comfortable returning.  I get it.

Yes of course the narrative from some posters about people on unemployment always applies. My comment wasn't a narrative-it logically applies if you are opposed to government "handouts". Send it back to the govt.
