The colder, the better for me. I hate being hot and would keep my thermostat on 65 degrees if it wouldn't run all of the time.

I just told Willis Carrier I loved him on another thread. Heart

Absolutely the only place I have always found to be cold is airplanes.  Even airports are warmer!

My dentist office is always so cold, I have my teeth cleaning done every 4 months and while waiting in the lobby I usually need to use the ladies room before the hygenist starts working on me.

@Biftu yes I find the grocery stores, doctor's offices, etc. are very cold (at least for me). I always take a jacket or sweater with me wherever I go. It's uncomfortable for me to be sitting and waiting and be cold.

I'm like others, live in the northeast and always have an old cardigan in the back of my car. (Denim & Co, LOL)   I have needed it many times and even though it's a bit wrinkled I don't care because there is nothing worse than freezing.   Around my neighborhood, certain stores are known to be very cold, especially our Whole Foods.   Restaurants vary, but like another poster stated the staff is running around working hard and I am sure they get quite warm, I don't blame them for keeping the temps cool.

It's more a matter of the individual, not where they live.  I live in MA, I spend my time all over NE and I'm always cold in restaurants, grocery stores, movie theatres and friend's homes if the ac is turned up too high.  Heck, even in my own home if the ac is lower than the 77 I prefer.  I went to my eye doctor yesterday and there was a bit of a wait, it was high 80s outside but cold inside.  I was happy that I had my jean jacket in my tote bag.  My sister is the same way.

Like a lot of the country we are baking in the Midwest, and I wince when seeing LOGO shows with Lori wearing all those layers of tops and sweaters---too hot!

Another NorthEaster here. I do not find stores, restaurants, pubs, movie theaters cold at all. Do not need a sweater or jacket.  I so dislike being hot.  I will never move to the southern part of the country.  The kids, hubby and I would go for a quick dip in the ocean in May here in Maine.  So the affor mentioned establishments are fine with the AC on.

Re: Is It Really That Cold?

The hosts are always saying how you need this cover up, sweater, jacket, etc. because restaurants and theatres are always freezing in the summer.  I suppose it depends where you live, but here in the northeast restaurants are never that cold. I find them comfortable and certainly no need for a sweater.  I always have a light coverup wherever I go but rarely need it.  I'm sure part of it is a selling tactic.  Do you find restaurants in your area freezing?

@Biftu

Well, first of all it's HOT outside and many are wearing very light clothing.  Women's tops are often short sleeved or sleeveless, so there's that.

When you go into a theater or restaurant, there's no way you can reliably predict the temperature.  It could be 70, 65 or even 60 degrees.  If you're going to be in that location for 2 hours, it's a fashion kwap shoot.

I have taken a light wrap many times and used it ... and sometimes not.  Either way, I just like being prepared.
