Re: Is It A Star Or A Planet???? Issac & Shawn

The moon is a satellite of the (our) earth. Right? Right! The sun is a star, and it's very close, more or less. The other stars that we see twinkling are suns, and they are much further away, right?

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

Its been mentioned before in VP how hosts who make up words aren't lending a hand in developing the English language. And now this. Where are the hosts who set the example? Who speak intelligently and articulately?

Or maybe it doesn't matter and we should lower our standards

When we landed on the moon, everyone, including the scientists, said we landed on another planet. Hmmm..

Really? I've never heard anyone say it was a landing on another planet. I've always heard it called the "lunar landing," or just "landing on the moon."

I've never heard a scientist or anyone else (until now) call the moon a planet.

It's always a victory for me when I remember why I entered a room.

I think this whole thing is just kind of funny, and I can relate. There are times when I've drawn a blank over something that I learned in school, and is considered common knowledge, but when it came up in the middle of a conversation....I made mistakes similar to those that Shawn and Isaac made. We are only human...all of us!
