serenna, I kept reading that the slow cooker made the best corned beef, so I tried it for the first time, and I agree, itt was great.

It's so easy, I threw the potatoes,celery and onion in set the meat on top poured the beer over it added the seasoning, filled with water then the last hour I put the cabbage and carrots in, it was by far the best we've ever had.

We did pretty much the same thing. It's good to put veg on the bottom so it forms a rack for the meat to sit on, which cooks better that way. I just had quartered red potatoes and baby carrots. I did pearl onions the night before because my daughter is allergic to onions. I did the cabbage separately only because I ran out of room in the 7qt cooker! The corned beef was four pounds {#emotions_dlg.scared}

Left overs are the bomb! My DH and son love corned beef sandwiches on Rye bread.

ITA!

I got a second brisket at DD's request, she wants to try baking one. I did that with a Martha Stewart recipe years ago, unfortunately now lost, but there are many, many recipes online to try.

I think it's beautiful . . . but totally inappropriate for my lifestyle. Maybe 40 years ago.{#emotions_dlg.unsure}

You know, one thing I was thinking about is that this set must be light weight compared to my sturdy Polish Stoneware and Fiestaware, all heavy.

That could be a bonus for those of us that get problem hands.

Back in the eighties, when I had a "significant other," I used to make huge meals every Sunday. I was a really good cook in my time, and everyone would come. I had sometimes 24 people sitting around my table (a really beautiful, huge teak table that came with two huge leaves).

This set (or probably four sets of them) would have been beautiful then. I do have a tiny Lenox bowl in the same traditional (not the blue) butterfly pattern that was given to me when I was married. I keep it in my buffet. It is so fragile, and I am so happy it has not broken with all the moves I've made.

You and I have that entertaining gene in common, it seems. I was also always cooking and throwing parties Smile I still do now, but just small dinners and parties.

I loved it. I don't know where I found the time and strength. I worked all week, cleaned all day Saturday, plus if my SO and I did not go out to dinner Sat night, I would prepare ahead what I was serving the next day. Then I would cook all Sunday morning and guests (family and friends) would start coming in the afternoon and we'd all sit down to dinner at around 4 PM. The guys would all say, "I love Sundays." My SO thought I was a "gourmet cook" (I wasn't that good). It's a fun, happy memory.

No, I don't do it anymore. And only one of my daughters likes to cook. So that whole thing is kinda over.

Re: Is Anyone Interested In The Lenox TSV?

I was never interested in the Spring look before. Probably just because I love Fall and Winter so much, but then something really hit me last year and I started loving all things Spring.

I started with a couple of nice floral tees and shirts and a Spring tablecloth. Now I've progressed to a set of Spring dishes {#emotions_dlg.scared}

Not for me. It is pretty, but not my style, as I really don't like butterflies and bugs on dinnerware.

What I do like about the set is all the different pieces for each place setting. Much nicer assortment than in most dinnerware sets.

I know what you mean about having all that energy. Now, I try to do as much as possible the day ahead of time. I also prefer simpler food now, I'm happy with a sandwich or soup a lot of the time.

Re: Is Anyone Interested In The Lenox TSV?

I've been eyeing Butterfly Meadow for a while, for my everyday dishes. I'm still on the fence, though. Plus, I don't need some of the tiny bowls and plates. There are other configurations of this set online, that are cheaper.

I have to admit I like the extra pieces. The higher bowl is great for soup or cereal, I'm always using some I have in red for that. And the shallow bowl is perfect for salad. Some of the pieces would be perfect just for serving things like olives, etc.
