@Mmsfoxxie wrote:I received an email notice that my qvc package would be delivered Tuesday, 11-29 by 8 pm. Late Tuesday night. I received an email saying "due to operating difficulties, my package would be delivered Wednesday. I have received a message everyday saying the same thing except that the day is changed. I just received another email saying it might not arrive today either.
I have two packages from Amazon that were scheduled to be delivered this Saturday, the third. I just received an email saying that might be delayed.
I called UPS to find out if I could pick my QVC package up from their facility because it's not that far away and was told no because the person I talked to was at an off site (maybe India, she had an accent) and couldn't relay that message. All I could find was an 800 customer service number for them. You used to be able to request that a package be held for pickup. I don't believe that service agent.
Is this how delivering are going to be until Christmas? I'd suggest that everybody doing holiday shopping and want it delivered in a timely manner, place those orders now. I've never had to wait for an Amazon package passed the promised date.
you can log on to the UPS site and if you have the tracking number make that request. it does make you set up an account , but its useful b/c you will get updates anytime a UPS package is coming your way.

I also have an eBay package MIA. The seller said he created the label on 11/29 and took it to the post office on 11/30.
When I click on the tracking number, it says "delivery by Nov. 25th" which is impossible since he didn't send it till the 30th.
He and I have been corresponding and he has no idea why the tracking number isn't working correctly. So who knows where my package is. It's too early to file a claim but who knows what the status of it is.

It looks to me like the problem is with UPS in Hodgkins Illinois. Apparently a lot of people are getting delay notices from there, and they're not too happy about it. It sounds like it's a huge place and the problem could be anything from unusual volume to equipment problems, or anything in between. This is from Wikipedia:
The Chicago Area Consolidation Hub (CACH) is a package sorting facility for United Parcel Service. the facility is in the village of Hodgkins, Illinois.
This facility serves as a sorting facility for packages travelling in the United States and the world. Construction of the CACH facility began in November 1991 at the site previously occupied by the GM Truck and Bus manufacturing plant. The facility has an area of 48.9 acres (198,000 m2), and has a perimeter of 3.1 miles (5.0 km). It employs over 8,000 people available to work one of the four shifts. Packages are only handled during loading and unloading, all sorting takes place through a system of conveyor belts and push paddles, utilizing high-speed cameras to read the destination from a smart label to sort a package to its trailer.
While CACH does not service package cars, the facility sorts approximately 1.6 million packages per day. During the months of November and December, volume can exceed 3 million packages per day.
UPS's web tracking system used to list the CACH as "CACH, IL." Since there is no city named CACH, this confused customers. As a response, the company now lists the facility as "HODGKINS, IL" or "Hodgkins, IL."
UPS also has a location called "Hodgkins, IN" that is sometimes confused with CACH. It is a place where trailers switch in between singles, doubles, and triples, because the Illinois location doesn't allow some or all trailers and the Indiana location does. The facility is located in Hammond, IN at I-90 (Indiana Toll Road) (Indiana Hwy 5) & Calumet Ave (U. S. Hwy 41) off of the eastbound freeway entrance ramp 41.643958°N 87.509272°W. It is informally called West Point by UPS. There's another UPS truck parking lot south of the nearby Public Storage.[1]

@Mmsfoxxie I am having the same problem but my packages finally arrived a day ago at 8pm. They had been delayed on a daily basis for about three days even though their status was "On Truck for Delivery". Weather is not an issue so UPS must be having some other kind of issues. I live in the western suburbs of Chicago in case we share a delivery area.
Funny thing is, one of the packes was a wreath I purchased as a LTS and the reviews were brutal about the wreath losing a lot of pinecones when you open the box. I figured for the price I could live with it plus how bad could it be? . . . yikes, they weren't kidding. Half of that wreath is still in the box, Gorilla Glue to the rescue . . . ![]()

Lol, @momtochloe, I guess we can find a little humor in everything.
This is just so puzzling to me. Your distribution center is west of Chicago and mine is south so that deepens the puzzle. I live about 30 minutes from mine. I have a Dooney bag coming from I Love Dooney due on 12-6 and I'm hoping I don't get the same issue. I believe it's coming via Fed Ex, though. I have coffee coming via UPS, though.
So far, this is a minor problem except that I have to be constantly on standby for my packages. I don't want packages sitting on my doorstep for a possible opportunity thief to grab. But we can't keep staying home because these daily changes are made.

@Mmsfoxxie my packages route through the Addison distribution center and to be honest this is the first time I have ever seen this happen. There may have been one or two that were unexpectedly delayed for whatever reason through the years but nothing like this. I think those will probably be the last packages for me this year so I am officially off UPS watch but it certainly was a different experience this year.

Yes, I have--these were not gifts, so it wasn't too inconvenient.
One was an incredible deal on a winter coat from Nordstrom Rack. I ordered it in early November and received it two days ago! I am not sure, though, whether it was a delay in shipping or just an item that sold out so quickly that it took them a while to find one for me. Since I live in FL, when I received it was not a biggie, but I am going to be in Philadephia in a few weeks, so am glad to see it fits.
My mailman Brian is so late, he is going around with a kind of "miner's" hat on, with a light attached. Usually I get my mail from 3-5 and it arrived at 7 last night.

You know @Burnsite that's another good point . . . my daily mail usually shows up mid afternoon but lately when I get hom around 6pm I am more than surprised to find it hasn't been delivered.

BINGO!
I was actually very surprised how fast I received my order from Q, but it was through USPS.
I received my shipment from UPS (yes, went through Hodgkins, IL) yesterday (2 days late) but this is how swamped they are: I received 2 shipments from them yesterday (from different vendors) but UPS did not deliver one package from another vendor that was also supposed to be delivered that day. Having had an incident where a package was stolen/lost a year ago, I called CS. (I usually receive my packages noonish) around 5 pm and inquired about this, that 2 packages from UPS ground from different vendors got delivered but one package that's also supposed to be delivered wasn't. The CS rep said that the package is due to be delivered and probably another driver would deliver it.
What do you know? My package was delivered around right before 7 pm. I've never even thought that there would be a different driver delivering to the same address the same date at different times! Note, all 3 packages were through ground UPS.
I've ordered Nest3 on 11/27 and still no shipping confirmation. They said they were backlogged and would probably start shipping Tuesday or so.
Again, I received my order from Q this week (super fast, 5 days???)

Q drop ships a lot of stuff so you never know where it's coming from. My Amazon package has been in SLC, Utah for 3 days now. Which is about 80 miles. Everyone in the warehouse quit? LOL Good thing I rarely order gifts on line this late in the year.
