Something could be left out because the person didn't think it was important. No harm intended. To purposely leave something out because you know it will cause a problem to tell the whole truth, is lying IMO.

An omission is not a lie. A lie is a deliberate misstatement of fact. An omission is keeping facts private and everyone has the right against self incrimination.

I agree... with this.

Exactly....like I didn't tell my husband that I hit a jackpot last month because I didn't want to hurt his feelings when he found out I was spending it all on me.

I'm not one of those people who run and tell friends nasty things that people say about them, knowing it is hurtful. I never understand that.
