Irshgrl31201 - Question about the Biltmore (I think it was your posts I read)

Did you go to the Biltmore for the Christmas holiday? I think I read something here about it.

If it was you, can you tell me if you're familiar with the Biltmore Village Inn?

Where did you stay and would you recommend staying in Biltmore Village as opposed to the Grove Park area?

Re: Irshgrl31201 - Question about the Biltmore (I think it was your posts I read)

Hey Autumn. We do live in NC so we usually go up there and take a tour at Christmas time. It is really pretty with all the lights and decorations but it is great any time of the year.

We have stayed a couple of places when we have gone up there. I have a friend who used to live in Raleigh that now lives there so we have stayed with them a couple of times and that is nice because they really know their way around town and all the good spots.There are a lot of great restaurants there and it is just nice having locals who are familiar with the area so they can narrow it down for you.

We have also stayed at the Grove Park Inn and the Inn on Biltmore Estate. We just were there for NYE. Both are nice but I have to say I really enjoyed the Inn. I think Grove Park Inn is great but even my husband thinks the food and atmosphere isn't as nice as it was a few years ago. It was totally packed when we went last and maybe that is why.

I haven't stayed at the Biltmore Village Inn but I have heard great things about it.

When are you planning on visiting? I think you will really enjoy it. It is so overwhelming to think that actual people lived in this humongous house.

Do you live in NC or are you planning on just making the visit to see Biltmore?

I could also give my friend who lives there a call if you are interested in some suggestions of places to stay or places to eat. I used to work with her at a salon here and she still works in esthetics and knows a lot about the hotels, salons and restaurants in that area. She is a real wealth of knowledge regarding Asheville and the goings on there.

I lived in the Asheville area for a few years. Absolutely love it there. We went to the Biltmore so many times (particularly at Christmas and in the spring, when their flowers are so glorious) that I could've been a tour guide.{#emotions_dlg.laugh}

It's been a while, so I can't make specific recommendations but I wanted to mention Asheville always had a number of charming bed and breakfasts. If you like that style, instead of a hotel, that might be fun to check into.

Marp2 would be an excellent resource for information, also.

I hope you enjoy it, Autumn! Can I go with you?{#emotions_dlg.blushing}

We visited the Biltmore during Christmas, our tour was at dusk & the lighting both in & out were beautiful. Not familiar with staying over as we drove back to Atlanta after.

It's a must place to visit, quite breath taking.

There is a great Aloft hotel in the city of Asheville -- walking distance to the art musem, restaurants, shops -- highly recommend!

Of course -- Grove Park Inn is delicious!

Hi ladies.

Thanks for al the info!

The trip isn't planned until Autumn. We will be driving and spending about 4 days in Asheville. We have looked at several travel sites and we're thinking about The Biltmore Village Inn but the Grove Park Inn looked nice, too, as did other inns, hotels and BandB's.

The Biltmore's Christmas decorations go up in November so we were thinking November but we want to be able to see the Autumn leaves and we're not sure if they'll be off the trees in November?

My sister and two aunts from TX are wanting to do a girls weekend trip in May after my son's graduation. Sister will already be here . . . so maybe aunts can fly into Knoxville or Charlotte or whatever is best . . . spend the weekend, drop them back off and head back here for her to fly home. Looks like Village Inn is booked but will look at Grove Park.

I still want to go during the Christmas holidays one year.

Mid-October should be peak for leaves. I have been in October and in November. By early November, most are gone.
