I woke up at 4:00 AM. Woke up quickly. Hmmm..... why am I awake? Oh, I have a migraine. A mini migraine, but a migraine just the same.
And, in addition to the migraine, I'm hot. Why am I hot? So I got up and wandered over to the thermostat in our bedroom and it said 80 which is interesting because we have the air conditioning set at 75. So great, the upstairs A/C isn't working. The upstairs A/C is only 1 1/2 years old. So I woke my husband up (misery loves company). I went downstairs and called our HVAC company, figuring I'd leave a voice mail. I got an actual human- answering service. Left our name so when they opened this morning at 8:00, they could call us back. My husband stayed awake a good minute and a half and promptly went back to sleep. I went downstairs to the cool living room with my headache and played Words with Friends.
The HVAC people called back at 7:30 and, lo and behold, can come today, between 12 and 3. Nice, but my husband's grandson is in the state and he and his dad (my stepson) are coming at noon today so we can visit and go to lunch. We haven't seen my husband's grandson in 8 years. So I told the A/C people to come ahead and I'll send my husband to lunch with the family and I'll stay behind on A/C duty. We're very thankful they can come today and hope it's an easy (aka cheap) fix as the unit is so new.
To pass the time after breakfast (when I finally took my migraine pill), I've been sitting in our office, lights off, ceiling fan on, browsing Etsy.com, looking for Christmas gift ideas. Nothing helps a headache or makes you forget about the heat like shopping!
All this and it's not even 10:00!

Well, on the bright side, at least it didn't go out in the heat of the afternoon.
Hope you fell better soon and your repair doesn't break the bank.

Sounds like day to me. You aren't having a full blown migraine, you can eat, read, look at computer a screen. Your hubby is going to spend quality time with family he doesn't see often and the air condition will be fixed today. Not such a bad day, all things considered.

I hope your headache has passed, gidget--too bad you had to miss the family lunch.
In 2013 I had the weirdest a/c experience. I'd gotten back from a long trip with what turned out to be bronchitis. Only on the next day, after my shower, did I begin to wonder why I was still so hot. Did I have a fever now?
Then I noticed that the 2 cats were stretched at their full length on the floor, which they do when the house is hot, and finally realized that the problem was the air conditioner.
Later that day the repairman told me it had been struck by lightning. The catsitter had seen no problem, so it had happened in a storm that struck a few hours before my return.
But I was so jet-lagged and virus-ridden that I didn't even notice until the next day. When I read your post, I identified. Air con is such a blessing, and I tend to take it for granted, but life in the southeast is miserable without it.

Wow, you've had quite the morning! I hope the medication kicks in and your migraine is relieved. And, yes, nothing like shopping to make things better! Feel better and I hope everything works out....
My headache is much better, thanks.

Browsing through Etsy is always fun. I marked several items as "favorite" so I can find them easily when I log back in. Etsy never fails me.

Yep, I agree. Things could be much worse. My husband, son and grandson just left for lunch after we visited. They're going to call me and see if I want them to bring lunch back for me. Headache is better and a/c people will be here within the next few hours. And my migraine was a fairly easy one so I could eat and function. No complaints about that. Just really want the a/c fixed today if we can.

Glad to hear that your migrane is calming down a bit. Hopefully soon your AC will be all fixed. The same thing happened to us when our AC was fairly new and it turned out to be that the fuse had blown. Hopefully it will be a simple fix for yours as well.
