Does anyone remember starting out where every penny counted?  And you didn't have a credit card?  There have got to be a lot of people like this.  As a student, I can remember having to add up my groceries as I shopped because I had to stay below $5 or $10.  I could not have afforded to give up change.  I've often read about people on social security who can't even afford their prescriptions.  Hopefully, they have a credit card because they can't afford to give away change either.

Our store asked if I wanted to round up to the next dollar for a certain charity.  In one case it was only a penny.  Now I get it.

Occasionally Shoprite will ask if we want to round up, when they do that the round up goes to a local food bank

There are lots of stores that stopped accepting cash way back months ago because of COVID-19 risks. I made a decision in March to stop using cash and haven’t used any since. It surprises me a bit to hear so many people are using cash right now.

That isn’t really anything new. Stores have offered that kind of option for years.

The round up amount in the stores in my area all go to charity (they are posted). I like it and wish it would continue. It's an easy way to help others, and if we all contribute a few cents it adds up to a meaningful amount.

I like using a credit card.  Hubby loves to use cash and coin and always, I mean always carries enough coin to hand over EXACT change.  Drives me crazy.  Takes longer.  Just easier to use the card.
