Quite a game last night - with the Cubs objecting to the Nats continuing to play well after they were ahead, the pitcher deliberately throwing at Harper etc.

So has our societal class warfare - if I'm doing poorly, it's not fair for you to do well, now interjected itself into sports. If you're ahead by 5 runs, you should just stop stealing bases, hitting the ball, etc., at least until I can catch up?

I know Harper embarassed them with his run (when he clearly should have been thrown out at home if they had been paying attention), but now that justifies throwing at him???

And as the commentators pointed out, a 5 run lead can evaporate quickly - and has even for the Nats - so to stop playing - especially when they are in a pennant race is not realistic.

It also bothered me that the pitcher was not ejected - but merely warned - for deliberately throwing at Harper. Again, it seemed like - well yes this is wrong, but you have to "understand" how "frustrated" he and his teammates are with the Nats beating them so badly.

Please.
