It is the ONLY sport with a 100% injury rate.
Yes, that's right - 100% of participants end up with an injury of one kind or another.
It's being marketed as being as "American as apple pie"...a real eye opener!

Hi terrier3,
I know you are quite familiar with ice hockey. Now I have never played or officiated at the NHL level but this study evidently forgot that the NHL is a sport.
You pretty much know my hockey history and this I can tell you. In all my decades of being a participant/referee/running an adult league. I do not know of 1 single player, that has played up to the "hobby" adult level that has not suffered an injury "of one kind or another". Some not so bad, others ending their playing and on-ice participating days.
I would absolutely love to have a chat with those that did this study and see the criteria that was used for the word, "injury". Needless to say: I ain't buying what they are trying to sell.
Happy New Year to you and yours,
hckynut(john)

That is a chilling statistic.
I would agree that hockey and boxing also probably have a 100% injury rate. Unfortunately, parents let very young children play football and high schools and colleges put incredible emphasis on football as opposed to those other sports.
I would like to see a ban on contact football for anyone under 18 years old. Long-term damage to still developing bodies is a terrible thing for a youn person to face.

I would have never dreamed that a contact sport would result in injuries to its players. If you aren't injured at some point then you are not doing it right. Wonder how much money was wasted on figuring this out.

I agree with you. How then would colleges recruit young men to form championship teams, which is a huge money-maker for schools?

I don't have the answer for that maudelynn.
I know football is a big money-maker for colleges. Too much so. If it didn't exist anymore, I guess they would come up with other ways. Maybe emphasize baseball, swimming or basketball more. I dislike how sports have come to rule colleges, so I don't really have an open mind on the subject! ![]()
