Re: Instacart and Aldi issues - Question and E-mail I received from them

I did not get such a letter but I have in the last month or so gotten a notification of change of policy or something similar on line with the app.  I could not figure out the difference so I have stopped using them.

I started using Instacart with Aldi during Covid - always pickup.  I had very good service with them, with probably only 1 inaccurate item.  I continued using after I could go in stores because it was a nice time saver on many occasions.  I appreciated the way items were sorted in bags, too.

I'm sorry you had that experience with Instacart. I'd be chapped, too.

We've never used Instacart, but we've used Kroger at times during the pandemic (I order online and we pick up the groceries in the parking lot). They've done a good job. There were times when they were out of certain things (but so were other stores). Those supply issues seem to have been fixed. The last few orders, they've had everything.

Also, they have given us really good produce (this surprised me, because I don't think of Kroger as having the best produce in town, but they seem to prioritize giving good produce to those orders).

I like that I can stipulate "no substitutions" if I want, and that's what I usually do. I'm pretty picky about brands. And they give me the current sale prices on everything, too.

If I were in your situation, I'd try a different service (and/or a different grocery), even if it was more expensive. Some companies just do a better job than others - and some individual stores are better than others within the same brand.

Good luck!

Before covid, I went to the Aldi store every week.  Since then, I shopped with them through Instacart.

I have rarely voiced any complaints to them since I joined up and they were justified!  I have not abused their company in any way.

I clearly mark each item that I order "No Substitute", or if I will accept a Substitute, I mark that as well.  The Shopper only needs to read it and follow the customer's wishes. It can't be that hard!

When I got that e-mail, I did think about the Q customers who got those letters and I remembered how upsetting these things were to them!  I mean, they are always saying order, order, order and you can always return --- and then they penalize you if you do so!

Yes, you are right.  In this day and age, the customer is no longer right or cared about.  I have thought about things and I am still disgusted, but I figure --- what's the point?  It's not worth it to be upset.  I started using this service to save time and energy and I have ended up using more energy and getting myself all worked up over all of this.  I tried to resolve this but I have gotten no where.  I am not going to BBB either as I know this will go no place either.  For now, I will continue to use them but if it gets any worse, then I will discontinue and look for other options.  With winter approaching, I don't want to do it now.  Thank you for your post!

I guess I missed that part about no sales!  I read a lot but I guess I missed that!  There are other issues but I know it's pointless to try and fight it.  You get no where!

@NigelSparkles

I know that there are people who abuse their service and that is why the rest of us suffer and are made to feel like we are doing something wrong!  Well, that's not me!  I have never abused it, nor would I!

I make my orders very clear.  I clearly make on each item whether I want a substitute or not.  If I will accept a substitute, I state it and state what I will accept.

I have received a chat from a shopper but that has been rare.  Usually, they don't bother.

I don't expect a shopper to be perfect all the time and I know that nobody will shop for me the way I would.  I don't expect perfection, but I do think its not too much to ask for someone whose job it is to "shop" to follow a few simple instructions.

I have made very few complaints and they have been justified!!!!
