We do- they fire up their souped up ATV and vroom vroom with their small child ahead of them on a freakin gocart..  I yelled at them once...  they don't give a rats patoot about the danger on a subdivision street with traffic.. oh no, it's all about them.. and if something happens to the child, they'll blame the driver..

We don't have an HOA but eventually someone will call the sheriff's office..

People flat out don't care anymore, no consideration whatsoever..

Off my podium..

That would be against the law in my city.

Re: Inconsiderate Neighbors

[ Edited ]

What neighbors do to the outside of their houses affects property values of the other houses.  You also have problems selling your house and for much less than what it's worth.  I consider my house an investment and don't want to lose money on it because of what a neighbor is doing to their house.

Depending on what the issue is here, I'd be furious, so it's not "it's none of our business" what neighbors do to their properties.  Wish we knew what it was her neighbor did.

I love living in an HOA community.  Each spring, a group of “ neighbors” walk through the entire neighborhood which is huge and make notes about homes with things needing fixing to meat HOA standards.  I KNOW that both my neighbors on each side of me fixed up their homes because the HOA sent them letters.  They both had really let their homes and yards go to HE**.  I never said anything to them as they are such nice people, but it did bother me to keep my home nice....and their homes were in such a neglected  fashion.  Because of the HOA, They both painted....made repairs and even have a gardener come to tend to their yards each month. How nice! I think sometimes people just do not SEE the mess or the things needing repair until it is shown to them.

My property was picked as a star property.... I was sent a letter from the HOA  the last  two years.  It is sent to those that keep up their properties.  It made me feel good.

Not necessarily, but it is nice that they do it🙂

Are those who don't do everything the Spring Walking Crew tell them they need to do, are they publicly humiliated at a neighborhood "get together"?  Given a fine?  Harrassed until they leave?

@QueenDanceALot   Actually they get fined and can be taken to court.  When you buy a home in the HOA you KNOW ahead of time what is expected to keep the homes in good shape prior to buying your home.. you AGREE to the HOA requirements. You do have a choice not to agree and not to buy a home there.

I don't live in an area with an HOA but sometimes I wish I did...next door to us is a LAZY young couple, their kids are old enough to help rake the leaves,  clean up their toys outside, etc....sadly they rarely trim and we are thrilled when we see them rake, then they take the rake leaves to the back of their property and dump them......they really have no clue!

Their porch is a mess, they never sweap if off and their landscape is a mess.....if you don't want to keep your yard up, live in an apartment or live in an area where it's done for you.  It makes the rest of the neighborhood look bad....

And Lord only knows what else.  We had a neighbor that let his house go totally down the drain.  He had 4 cars in his driveway and eventually they all had 4 flat tires.  That is a code violation.

He quit cutting his grass and the trees, bushes and weeds got so out of control in the front of his house, you could no longer see the front door and it was a danger.  The mailman quit delivering because he refused to go through the mess.

The backyard was horrendous.  The grass was up to the fence, trees were overgrown into others' yard and there were all kinds of animals living in there.

The city came out time and time again and he was cited multiple times for housing violations but he never showed up to the hearings and a warrant was issued.  The aren't sending the police out to arrest someone for a warrant on a housing violation so it just continued on. Eventually all the cars were towed and then he finally had someone clean everything up.

But for years it was a complete eyesore and made the neighborhood look terrible.

Try selling a home when it sits between two junk homes....good luck getting your home’s value.  I certainly would never buy a home next to a run down mess of a home.

It's funny how uncaring some are but they feel differently when it happens to them.  It's ridiculous to them that someone has an issue with a house being painted purple but then they'll complain about a neighbor's car parked in front of their house.  How dare they?  Why isn't that car parked in front of their own house?  That part of the street is mine!

@SeaMaidenthis is true too.  There was a house across the street from us that was for sale and the agent said she was having a hard time because the house next door is a little bit of a mess.  Not bad enough that he violates any codes but messy enough that it was causing problems with the sale.

It finally sold and now the new owners are having fits over stuff this guy and his family do.  He's another doozy.
