Re: Incident at Frys Food Store

The virus is smaller than the spaces in the fabric of the masks being worn by the general public. The air flows both ways, in and out. Masks are futile and only give a false sense of security. It may be simple and thoughtful to help others feel more secure but as to effectiveness not so much. People should be made aware that wearing a random mask is not going to give them the protection they are hoping for.

@MildredM:

That is misinformation. Face coverings reduce the transmission from the wearer. If we could achieve 80% face covering compliance we could kill COVID-19 as a threat and not have to worry about this anymore. Misinformation is making this thing drag on even longer.

I shop at Bashas, Walmart and Frys and Frys has the best selection. They've had paper procucts, Clorox wipes etc.. Bashas seems to have a tough time restocking so they're out of everything. As far as masks go, I've seen half and half in the grocery store. I tend to go early in the day when it's less crowded.

Add the social distancing to wearing the mask in stores and we'd all be in better shape.

All this talk about wearing masks has me wondering once the restaurants open up how many customers in the restaurants will continue to wear a mask. After all, it would be hard to sit at a table and eat with a mask on.

You are joking; right? @Sheila P-Burg. Just wanted to make sure. It's hard to tell here sometimes. :-)

May I ask if you have tried delivery and who does it less than 4-5 days?  Also, I am concerned with perishables because of our extreme heat. As I stated the milk I received was warm.

From Dr. William Schaffner, an infectious disease specialist and prof:ssor at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine:

Surgical masks, which many people end up buying in stores, are designed to keep what’s in a surgeon’s mouth and nose from getting into a surgical field, he points out. “They’re really quite effective at doing that, but they’re not air tight around the edges,” Dr. Schaffner says. When you breathe through and around them, it doesn’t provide optimal respiratory protection.”

@Sushismom I think we all know that.  However, a face covering will act as a shield if someone coughs or sneezes in your direction.  Now, I know that not all face masks are created equal.....but, it sure as heck beats going out to the store without anything.  At least you can turn away or turn your head and feel somewhat comforted that you have something covering your mouth and nose.

If you are on Next Door, I suggest you post this there and mention everyone should shop elsewhere.  If they have a Facebook page, post it there and on their website , it there is a place for public feedback.

 Spread the word.

That’s too bad. They have been well-stocked with what we’ve needed in the past few weeks but I’m not looking for paper products. Well, there’s another reason for me to keep shopping there.
