We don't just put water bottles in a bin. In my state, you put your plastic bottles in a machine and they are shredded to confetti size pieces of plastic.
It varies from one place to another. In some locales, it's up to the residents to sort and place recyclables in different types of bins which are picked up at the curb just like the other trash. I do wonder if the recycling process is effective, since we don't really see what happens next... and next.
That doesn't make any sense to me. Then how do you get your nickle deposit back for each bottle if you don't bring them back to the store to recycle them?
There is no deposit here.
We have to recycle our own items. They go in blue bags out to the curb. One garbage truck comes by and picks up regular trash and then another truck comes by later and picks up the blue bags.

Bottled water is silly and pretentious unless you live in an area without potable (clean unpolluted) water.

Invest in a water distiller and get off the bottles. Distillers aren't that expensive. waterwise.com.

Of course, Diva dear. Long ago when Americans first started with the bottled water craze it was adopted by some who wanted to be seen as "cool" and sophisticated. We're going way back now 30 or 40 years. Their preference was usually the French brands - Perrier or Evian. Today it's more out of a misguided idea of what is "healthy". So, yes, always silly and at times pretentious.

Hmmm. To think. Sometimes people are just thirsty while they're out and about and need something to drink. I'll take a healthy bottled water over a soda or Gatorade, etc.

I guess when you buy the store brand, there is no cool factor to it. Ain't nothing cool about walking around with a bottle of Great Value water.

It's just totally environmentally irresponsible.
OH, brother, now I have heard it all.... I love my Keurig and it is not environmentally irresponsible!
