Re: In case you didn't know this

I always use a canteen with Brita-filtered water from the tap. I hate bottled water for all the reasons, mostly the pollution factor. The earth is over 70% water and we have managed to pollute all of it in less than one century.

FYI......................the ocean is full of plastic water bottles! The great Pacific garbage patch. Don't buy water in plastic bottles!!!!

And if you do have plastic bottles, refill them and keep reusing them.

The ocean is full of plastic bottles because idiots don't recycle.

WHEN will this "bottled water" bit be O.V.E.R.? Did I hear that somewhere in California, bottled water being sold is getting banned? Hallelujah! Dallas just passed the beginning stages of no-store-plastic-bags bit...baby steps, but it can be done.

Yes, the bottled water ban will be starting soon. The plastic bags are also banned depending on which city/county you live within. As far as the bottles go, there are many from 'foreign countries' who litter. It's what they know and it takes a generation or two to get them to learn to not litter. It takes time but things should get better.

what about saving the trees? back to paper or will we be required to use those awful bags that get nasty and are made from 'who knows what'? (probably plastic bottles ?!)

How does anyone know what actually happens to their water bottles once they put them in the ""recycle"" bin?

Using recycled reusable grocery bags will be the answer. I wash mine on a regular basis & have been using them for about 6 years. Strong, lightweight. It's the only answer.

Recyclers are not giving you money for the bottles without making a profit. Jeesh!

We don't just put water bottles in a bin. In my state, you put your plastic bottles in a machine and they are shredded to confetti size pieces of plastic.

It varies from one place to another. In some locales, it's up to the residents to sort and place recyclables in different types of bins which are picked up at the curb just like the other trash. I do wonder if the recycling process is effective, since we don't really see what happens next... and next.
