@Marp wrote:@Cakers3,I think you meant to address your post to @gidgetgh. The glasses I bought were from American Paper Optics which are approved.
I don't know if Amazon has gotten all of the non-approved offers taken down but a quick scan of the listings for "eclipse glasses" just returns approved glasses.
@Marp Oops sorry. Didn't have enough coffee I guess.
@gidgetgh Were the glasses you bought removed from Amazon's website?
@Cakers3- yes. When I looked at my order history this morning and clicked on that item in my history it brought up the "page not found" message.
I looked on the site also and didn't really see any that would be delivered on time.
In our area, someone found the m at Pearle Vision Center this morning. People also reported that Walmart had them a few days ago as well as Kroger a few days ago.
I got ours at Lowe's.

@SilleeMee would you mind posting the call letters/name of your local station as I would love to watch too . . .
There will be many stations airing this eclipse. One is the NASA Livestream on YouTube. This particular NASA one is set to be a 4-hour event of the live event.
Go to: eclipse2017 dot nasa dot gov/eclipse-live-stream
You will see a choice of options of where it can be viewed..."Ways to Watch"
Great info @SilleeMee, thanks for sharing!

I don't have any yet and I want to be able to look at it. If weather permits.Want to make sure they're the right kind. I know ISO, what number?
I don't see them in any nearby stores, someone suggested I try Lowe's but I haven't.They're probably out of them.😯

I have toyed with the idea of getting a couple of pair, but in my area this time of year it's frequently overcast and foggy, and we'll have about a 75% chance of not seeing anything (esp in the mornings) at all. So I'm tending to not bother.

Another reason to be safe and watch it on TV or any other electronic device. @sidsmom

I feel those watching the actual eclipse are kinda the same as those
holding up their cell phones videoing a concert or sporting event.
One should be watched thru a video lens & the other live,
but kinda the same outcome.
It never looks like you want it to & it ends up kinda 'meh'.
Just leave it to the professionals.

@sidsmom If the "professional" presentation is indeed better, why not have the best of both worlds? Watch it live and then spend the next day and a half watching the thousands of recorded broadcasts of it there are going to be...

For those who are skittish about the upcoming eclipse here is what you need to view the eclipse:
a large cardboard box able to fit over your head.
an 8" X 11"'sheet of white paper
clear tape
a pin to create a pinhole on the box
tape the paper to the inside of the box
put a pin hole in the upper corner of the cardboard box so the sunlight goes over your shoulder to shine onto the paper
put the box over your head and with your back to the sun, you should see the sun ray on that piece of paper
watch the 'sun' get more and more obscured on that sheet of paper as the eclipse occurs
