This is long (no surprise, right?😜😉🙃) and might be an unpopular view but I need to share my feelings.

I think that we are giving them reasons to close down the community.

Many of us protested -- and loudly -- when the QVC Community shutdown was announced...
yet then, not long after we were "heard" and the shutdown was cancelled, we began, again, to ignore the published standards for participation and community guidelines.
We resumed pushing the limits, seeing if our posts would be allowed to stand.
We resumed trying to force it to be something it is not.

We might not like or agree with the policies that clearly state no politics, no religious content, etc., but we do agree to abide by them when we use this public forum which, after all, is paid for by the business and as their property is their right to moderate as they feel is in their best interest.

I saw what happened to two removed threads (one in Community Chat, one in Among Friends) that were intended as prayer requests for the people of Ukraine, and it was easy to see what actually happened to them and to see it was only a matter of time before they were removed.

As a person of life-long and deep faith, I was profoundly disappointed in the religious content changes but at this point don't understand why this misunderstanding and debate continues.

It was 5 1/2 years ago when the changes were added, the QVC Social Team did spend quite a bit of time answering questions and explaining why that was added, and they've been very consistent in removing prayers, scripture, and religious discussions.

"Controversial Topic Guideline Change
‎09-22-2016

To keep an atmosphere in the community of fairness, discussion of religion will be prohibited as a controversial topic. Wishing or asking someone for “prayers” will be allowed as this is an expression of comfort. Religious or controversial signature lines will be deleted.

They still allow a substantial amount of spiritual posting, gentle expressions of faith, supportive kindness,
and nothing prevents us from allowing our personal faith to shine brightly in the way we act, the energy we bring here and share, and the way we treat one another.

As this is their property, it is also their right to close it down forever...  if we continue to push the envelope, I have no doubt it will close and not reopen this time.
Trying to make this forum something it is not is a futile endeavor...  trying to sneak in, or even overtly add, things that require more careful monitoring isn't clever or helpful and it does nothing but make this a greater liability (financially and otherwise) for Qurate.
When we participate in activities of this nature we are pushing the place off the cliff...   even though we protested the closure and helped pull back the community away from that cliff only a few months ago.

If we need to place blame, doesn't at least some of it fall on our shoulders?
Don't we have a responsibility to know the policies, terms of posting, and abide by them?

I've been away due to health problems that have required me to limit reading and posting, but even so I always knew all of my posting friends from all these years past were still here and still working to make this a supportive community.
I don't want to see this forum go away for good... but it might be going down that path.
Sorry for the typical long-winded rant.   I understand not everyone agrees with me...  but continuing to try and jam that round peg into a square hole is going to damage the sustainability and future of this crazy place.
We have personal responsibility here, don't we?

I care about this place and the people, the human beings on the other side of that screen, who populate it, and even with other venues I'll miss this community of friends if and when it is closed.
I hope all of you are safe and well.
Take care.❤️

@dooBdoo  so good to see you. Hope you are doing much better.
I so agree with you. I suspected that some Posters are doing this on purpose so that the Boards would close. Similiar to "trying to punish QVC" because of what almost went down a few months ago. "Like we don't need you"

I would certainly like for the Boards to continue and I'm sure a lot of other Posters here would like that too.

If only we who know better would do better.

Hi, @Sage04!  Thank you!  Good to see you, and I hope you and yours are doing well.❤️

Great post.

It hadn't occurred to me that anyone was deliberately sabotaging the forums, but every time I see someone join in on a thread to add known "no-no" topics, digs, pokes, veiled references, innuendos, call-it-what-you-wills,

I do believe it's another step toward closing this community down.

Some people do it in a recognizable pattern which could be stopped.

Have we all forgotten the big banner in black with white letters?

        "An Important Update:

This page is going away on 11/2."

An abrupt countdown, and we were scrambling to see if it could be reversed.

What if they had not reversed the decision, and we were no longer here to share anything yesterday, today, tomorrow?

That makes me pause and feel grateful to simply have the chance to work with this community within its boundaries.

Perhaps those of us who are concerned and who want the forums to survive and even thrive could help by:

keeping an eye out for patterns,

calling each other accountable for our actions,

and seeing what we can change for the good.

Wise and intuitive:

"If only we who know better would do better."❤️

Yes, there are many topics that are important; some already  mentioned.

It is almost impossible to post about certain topics and say that they are not political.  Of course they are.  Most of the topics are controlled by political entities.  This is why threads do not last-the veiled references to certain political persons start the ball rolling.

It is futile to keep wishing that things would be different around here.  Every so often we see the same go-round about topics and once again the Standards remain the same.

Certainly, express an opinion about displeasure regarding how this place is managed but it will never change a thing.

I do like to see a poster saying he/she is leaving; I would wonder about some, and others I have to say I wouldn't miss-not out of spite, but simply because I do not recognize the nic often enough to say "where is so and so lately".

Others I am in touch with offline and I leave it up to them to post why they have not been around.  It isn't my place.  I keep my offline friendships close and do not divulge anything without permission.

As far as liking or disliking posters, that is all in perception.  Perhaps not reading a post completely or misunderstanding what a poster has said or the simple fact one just doesn't like him/her.  The all time favorite-taking an opposing pov as a personal affront.

I am tagged often by a certain person and I consistently ignore.  Yet I can count almost to the minute that the person will show up, to mock.  *shrug*

If this board shuts down, I am sorry for those who will miss friends and have looked forward to posting for reasons many of us can identity.

We go through this periodically; displeasure at how the boards are moderated, then it becomes about personal dislikes of posters, then the all-time favoritie - everyone else is at fault.  We can get dizzy going around and around.

If anyone needs to try to connect offline, I simply suggest going to the off-shoot board where a pm is available.  Take it from there.

I sincerely hope everyone can come to an understanding that while this board most likely will not stay forever, it isn't because of one or 100 posters causing this.  It's just time, that's all.

Be well.

I signed up at proboards and the q forum.  They are discussing current events more there but do have forums marked political and stopped but still there is more comments allowed.  Lots of posters from here are on there too.

@dooBdoo   So glad to "see" you.  I've always liked and respected your posts.

Wishing you better health and hoping you will be continuing to share your wisdom on many counts with us.  Hugs. 💕

Wow, I hope they don't cancel these boards as someone mentioned.

I don't shop so much, nor do I watch all their shopping shows that I need to discuss every one.  The products I repeatidly get from the Q are ones I've gotten over many years and they are still offered.

This is personally for me, it may not be the same you, but there's many of us, who order or don't differently.  I appreciate the boards and want them around a long time.  Great people here who have thoughts, ideas, and info they share with others who ask for info on things beyond shopping.

Each to his own.

This proabably won't stay up very long, but, I just feel compelled to say that  I am tired of topics that concern all of us - the world we live in today, so to speak, being deleted by the mods. A thread (that was not political) that I commented on yesterday was taken down.  It was merely a prayer for those under attack. That is a humanity issue, IMO.

It seems we are only allowed to discuss "frivolous" topics. As I am really not into those topics, I am saying goodbye to these boards.

ITA with you.  I do find some good info. on these sites though.
