My part of NJ  had 3 separate weeks during 2011-2012 in which we had no power for a week each.

My life doesn't begin until I have morning coffee and a morning shower. It wasn't fun.

Since I live in an apartment and I can't have a gen, when the power goes out, I like to pretend that I am living like the pioneers did, back in the day.

It's incredibly inconvenient and it would be hard but since there is no alternative, we do people in situations always do.  We adjust, we become creative, we help each other out and we get through it.   Hard as it is,  it's a lot better than the situation those hundreds of thousands of people in Asia are dealing with after that historical flooding.  We haven't heard much about it because of the hurricanes which pale in comparison to what's going on in those countries.
