If you gave it thought, perhaps you'd realize it's attention  seeking, wanting to be noticed.

While in general the smell of coffee is good, it's unpleasant to some.

Just l as I don't care to listen to another's choice of music, I don't  care to smell them either, especially at work.

Good quality cologne for men is usually not overwhelming if just a small amount is used; that’s all that’s needed. My jr high school boy students used to put tons of Axe cologne on after PE instead of a shower....of course they had my class right after PE...it was a stench! Fortunately most of them moved to athletics so they were outside and after school.

My Latin professor at university drank and covered the scent of alcohol with cologne. As the day progressed and more alcohol consumed, more cologne was applied. Unfortunately, my class was in the afternoon.
