If you have researched this. Which zinc supplement is good?

If you have researched this. Which zinc supplement is good? Looking for one without too high of a dose of essential zinc. Looking for one that won't hurt my stomach.

Just letting others know that taking zinc when on antibiotics can be a problem.

Have you researched foods high in zinc?

Please do not take this the wrong way, as I have some stomach/acid issues and have to be careful with what I eat and supplements too.

I have sometimes had better luck adjusting my diet and not supplementing.

I chose Spring Valley for the following reasons.

Made in the United States

Claims to be all natural

No preservatives

Coated tablets

Guaranteed...for zinc deficiency I suppose.

Reasonably priced

I'm taking one 50mg tablet daily with a meal, as directed.  Depending on where you look, 50mg is recommended for Covid-19.  I have seen up to 150mg per day, but I'm not going that high.

I have tummy problems too.  None when I take it with a meal.

I'm making an assumption you are interested in prevention of more serious adverse effects of Covid-19, research found among those who died of COVID-19, blood levels of zinc were lower than normal.  In contrast, blood levels among those who survived averaged normal or higher.

A few weeks ago I started taking Walgreen's zinc 50 mg.  No problems.

If you are looking for one to help with viruses then look for a lozenge. Zinc works in the oral cavity where it inhibits viral replication. It doesn't do that in the gut.

From what little research I have done I came across Zinc Bisglycinate. You could check that out.  There is some info at PubMed. Thorne has a 15 mg

Zinc bisglycinatea well-tolerated and well-absorbed zinc chelate – is comprised of one zinc molecule bound to two (bis = two) molecules of the amino acid glycine. Because this form of zinc is absorbed intact (that is, bound to glycine) it does not compete with other minerals for absorption in the intestinal tract.

@Mindy D

You might want to research “ionic” zinc. The liquid ionic form is the form we use soxit doesn’t need to go through the digestive system. It is the form that is important more than the brand.

Speaking of Zinc, I used to use Zicam lozenges anytime I felt like I was getting a cold.  I realized that everytime I used Zicam, I ended up with a UTI.

Now I avoid it like the plague.
