I have been on some threads recently where there have been comments about how the thread needs to be shut down. I don't get that thought process. It's so easy ,if it offends so much, to just not open that thread. Even more of head scratcher is that those posters keep on reading and posting about how awful and mean or whatever...lol!
Lovescats, I think we have been on a recent thread that just disappeared without moderator comment ...just poofed with nothing at all left. Haha

I agree with the majority - the world does not revolve around me and I'm not one to say that I would want all threads that don't interest me taken down.
OTOH, it would be nice if people would learn this - the purpose of a thread title is to briefly say what the thread is ABOUT. The leading thread titles are a drag, especially if the page is still loading and you thought you clicked on another one and you find yourself in one of those threads with the nondescriptive thread titles. It's really not that difficult to put what the thread is about IN the actual thread title.

If I don't like it, I don't read it. Doesn't bother me if it stays.

There are TONS of threads here that I have no interest in. It doesn't bother me. I still find plenty of other discussions to read and partake in.
I do find it annoying when I am trying to read a thead, and posters who have no interest in the topic find it necessary to post a relpy to say "Don't care." or other snottier variations ot the same. This is so rude to the OP, who I always assume has stong feelings or curiosities about the subject at hand. I also gotta love those posters who feel the need to tell someone that their post is too long, and they can't be bothered to read it. If somebody's not interested, they should find another thread. I haven't seen a browser yet that didn't have a "Back" button on it!

There have been posts that I would have preferred be closed down, but I realize that is just my opinion. But to answer your question - no I do not think posts should be closed except for the ones not following the guidelines.
I get a little annoyed when I see snippy comments when someone doesn't agree with a poster. For example 'the lack of hearts will tell you how many people agree with you.'
This adds nothing to the discussion and is not a measure of a right or wrong post. We all have an opinion - which is generally neither right or wrong - just an opinion, nothing more.

I did find the removal it was backdated to July 23 for becoming unfriendly when I had posted in august.
I think when the disgruntled comments start you really can't win. I ignored a lot the comments and tried not to reply personally because if you answer them you are arguing or baiting.

Of course it should. If I don't like it why would they knowingly leave it in the forum? :-)
