The Okefenokee Humane Society is in dire need of familes for there fur babies. They are working with little funds and need all sorts of donations, foster homes and adoptive parents. You can find them on facebook and read their plight. Last week they had a dog die of heat stroke and that is just one of several. The staff is doing all they can with what they have. This incident even got media attention outside the city. (which finally prompted the city to get them some electricity and Lowes donated some fans) If you know any rescues or someone wanting to help go on their page and look at the dogs they have. They have had rescues as far as Minnesota and North Dakota (I guess up north there is not the stray problem we have in the rural south) trying to help. Some don't have much time left but they keep trying to get them out. I know there are others like the Okefenokee that need help but just thought I would put it out there. This board seems to have lots of animal lovers.
