What a love..I wish I had millions and I would love to have many animal shelters..no animals left to fend for themselves..thats my dream! Animals give so much back, they so deserve as much love as we could give!

Nothing I need....lots that I want....but in the end I would likely just tuck it away for a rainy day.

IF You Received TEN Thousand Dollars To Spend on Yourself, What Would You Buy?
These days . . . a thousand doesn't go too very far . . . kinda like when my husband and I got married . . . our little "rule" . . . not written in stone of course . . . was purchases over 500.00 we'd make mention/discuss with each other . . . nowadays . . . eh maybe over 1,000.00 we might make mention of it to the other beforehand. More so out of consideration NOT to be confused with permission.
I was surprised to read the amount of expensive items some think they would be able to buy with $1000.
If we are spending the money on ourselves, I'd spend a night in a posh NYC hotel suite and if I had enough money leftover, order room service.
No kidding, I was thinking the same thing! Naïve huh?
.
I was wondering what kind of beautiful diamond ring someone thought they could get for $1,000. Maybe a nice band with a few very small diamonds I guess. Nothing wrong with that but it sure wouldn't be anything grand for one grand.
If the rule was I had to spend it, it would be on dining out with my SweetieBear. Otherwise I'd save it for the next car repair.

I went back to Napa this past Fall. It was sad to see my hometown and all the damage downtown after the August earthquake.

Out of debt. Almost there, and that would do it.

But since you said spend it on yourself, Id buy a touch screen laptop.lol. Even though we have 2 laptops, an iPad, and an electronic tablet. Because Ive been wanting a touch screen!
Shorty..this is OT totally..but you say stuff like this all the time and it is so WRONG.
The home did not TAKE it like you imply it was for your father's care! NOW granted I have many issues with Nursing Homes and their level of care..that said ..regardless of the feelings towards that and I agree with all of the things wrong with those places..but in reality we cannot care for them at home..so that given..why should his assets not be used for his care? It happened with my in-laws..their home was sold and used to pay the high cost of care at a Nursing Home..I had many issues with that place including their care but they were entitled to be paid and that is often thru assets and was in their case. For two of them...they were self pay due to the value of their home when it was sold. It is what is it..
You have stated before you would of hid or taken the money and that way it wouldn't of gone for his care but then the tax payers would of been left paying for the care so you can have your 'inheritance..' as deny it or not..it isn't like they can take it with then..and thas is just so wrong on many levels.
Not trying to be snarky but pointing out my opinion on something you post often as snide remarks insinuating they "took" this money.
My father (my Mother has passed) and my in-laws . . . IF every dime they have accumulated and saved in their lifetime is spent for their care . . . that is what the money is for. IF us kids need to chip in for the monthly care taker / living facility bill, if and when it comes to that . . . then so be it. We'll do that too.
With kids in college and aging parents, yes it can be difficult . . . but hopefully most families/siblings will pull together . . . I know mine did for my grandmothers after grandfathers had passed . . . and we too will do it for our parents. Because it is the right thing to do. IF it takes every dime they have saved . . . then it is money well spent for their care. And yes we will make sure to the best of our ability that the care they receive is quality care.
I know some people "hide" money . . . and I do believe that is AGAINST THE LAW. IF caught you will be in a heap of trouble! As you should be!
