Thanks @DottieBlue ! The older I get, the more nostalgic I get. But most are places I've wanted to visit for a long time.  Smiley Happy

I would have to assume I had no dogs because I couldn't possibly be away from them for 3 months. I would like to go to Japan. My college roommate and I decided that's where we wanted to go when our dads told us we could take a trip ( we met in Europe).  Dad's response to that destination was "you couldn't afford to buy steak in Japan"🤷‍♀️  We ended up in Argentina..

Assuming I could tolerate the Heat, and I couldn't, my number one place in the world I would want to go is Dubai.

It's a toss up between these two countries:

Greece Switzerland

@monicakm - Argentina sounds wonderful - I forgot about South America! I'll bet you had fun!

I went to Geneva when I studied in France. My two roommates and I hitchhiked! Back in the day *sigh* it was safe, or at least we thought it was!

I forgot about Greece! All of that sun and water! If you like to read check out Bus to Corinth by Ladine Housholder. A group of women retrace the steps of the Apostle Paul. Their adventures cover everything a group of women could go through. It's a great book!  Smiley Happy

@beach-mom  First I would spend a month in South America. I'd go to Peru and see Machu Picchu. Next go to Brazil to see the Christ the Redeemer statue. Then to Chile Atacama desert to see the observatory and get to look through their huge telescope at the night sky.

Wood like to see the Rainforest too in Venzuela while there. Also to Patagonia in Argentina and be lucky enough to get close to see the Strait of Magellan.

I would spend a month in Italy eating my way through the Boot of all kinds of regional pasta dishes. YUM. Pompeii and Herculaneum is a must.

My last month would be in UK. I'd like to see Stonehenge and Emperor Hadrian's Wall. The Hebrides Islands in Scotland and Penzance in Wales. I would love to see the abundance of green in Ireland and go on a wee pub crawl and have some authenic colcannon. Spend three days at London Museum of Natural History.

And then.....come home sweet home.

@Queen of shop - I love your choices! The rainforest would be special and I think very serene. I would definitely love to go to the UK, and some of my ancestral homes. (I'm 3/4 British) I would love to stay in an old castle and learn more about the history there. Everyone in my immediate family but me has been there - DH conference, DD a semester during college, and DS with his singing group!  Smiley Happy

I would like to go to two elephant sanctuaries in Africa, Sheldrick Wildlife trust and Thula Thula Exclusive Private Game Reserve.  Maybe a few weeks at both, I wouldn't want to be away from home for three months.

@spumoni99 - DH has always wanted to go on a safari. When we were younger he looked into working there, but we just didn't want to go that far from our families back then. I have a good friend who is from there, as is her husband. They still own their house there, but they like it here! It would be hard for them to leave after being here so long and raising their children here!

I think I agree with your last sentence!  Smiley Happy

I would start in Ethiopia, and then go to Uganda and Rwanda....a gorilla trek is a must.

I would then make my way to Morocco and cross over to Spain to see all the wonderful artwork.  Next on to Portugal with a visit to Fatima.  Next stop England making my way north though the UK.  Next stop is a cruise to Norway and the artic circle.

Time to head home through Canada, stopping in Calgary and Banff.  Finally crossing the border and visiting South Dakota and Montana.  Next stop home.

Great question @beach-mom

An easy choice...apartment in Paris. We did that before the kids came along and DH was starting his practice and took off 3 months to enjoy being out of school and not "fully employed" yet.

Of course all the "what ifs", missing my kids and Molly and planning would be an issue now, but oh the sights, weather and my favorite part is having a kichen (although small), going down each morning and walking along the streets to the various markets to collect fresh veggies, breads and fish from the different vendors. Bonjour to all of them shows them you're friendly and willing to try speaking French.

I went for a month myself a summer between junior and senior year and although a bit lonely, still enjoyed every moment. I enjoyed sitting  outside at the brasseries and people watching. My apartment then would fit in the master bedroom I have now....no closets and a dorm frig., stove w/ 2 burners and no oven. I had about one foot of counter space. My bed filled most of the space and the bathroom was squeezed into a corner.

None of that matters when you're  19 years old. It's just an adventure. I ended up staying my senior year and studied art. Came home and met DH. The rest is history.

Re: If You Have Three Months. . .

Been fortunate enough to travel, my greatest happiness is here at home with my husband, not on the run.  That's all I want from my time left.
