I got this from a Japanese news article:
You have 3 months starting April 1 to do whatever you want and go wherever you want. Where would you go and what would you do?
** As for me, it would be hard to leave my family, including my kitties. And I don't like going places without DH.
So we're going to assume DH and my children can come along, and one of my trusted friends moves in to take care of the kitties. DH's close friends are on call if there are any medical problems. We also have to assume DH and I can be away from work. OK, now we're living in a different world! LOL! We might as well assume money is plentiful!
But assuming all that, I would go back to Japan. I would visit my "places," and go to Kyoto, Nara, Nagoya, Sapporo, and of course Tokyo. I know it's changed a lot since I lived there, but I can't even put into words the "peace" you feel there, especially in the rural areas. I would show DD a real tea ceremony and we would wear yukata. I want to feel that again.
That would take a month, then we would come home and travel to some places in the US I've always wanted to visit. I want to see the places of the "Old West," like Tombstone and the Badlands. I want to see the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone. Then I would take them to Santa Fe and see a good friend I taught with a long time ago. I have to stop at Albuquerque (and maybe meet some forum friends for lunch or dinner, leaving my family in the hotel!).
We would stop in Texas to visit special friends. Then we would head to Key West for a few days. We would visit Savannah and see where I grew up (DD has never seen it, but DH and DS have.)
That's the end of the second month, so for the last month we would go to New England for a week or two. Then we would go to the beach. We're in June now, so the water might be a little cold, but that's never stopped us before! I would lie in a chair on the sand and READ! We would eat out every night. And we're probably getting tired of being with each other at this point!
Then home and back to reality. We would see our precious kitties, and I would probably wonder why I ever left them in the first place!
I know - I'm weird!
What about you?? ![]()

April will probably be THE LAST TIME we have decent weather in Phoenix for the next six months, so I will stick around home...

So...3 months with unlimited funds, I'd divide my dream vacas into 3-1 month trips.
1st, a month down to Peru and Easter Island to see all the megalithic structures and the Nazca Lines.
2nd, A couple of 2 week cruises...one to see the Northern Lights and the other somewhere in Europe.
3rd, a month in a Bermuda cottage with all the extras... ![]()
I was in Bermuda for 2 weeks on a vaca before I met my husband in 1995. I stayed at the Elbow Beach Resort.
I dream of going back someday with DH this time. Here's a pic of me from back then...

If funds are provided, I would have all the home improvement projects around the house completed.

@beach-mom I think your plans sound absolutely wonderful!

I would have to assume I had no dogs because I couldn't possibly be away from them for 3 months. I would like to go to Japan. My college roommate and I decided that's where we wanted to go when our dads told us we could take a trip ( we met in Europe). Dad's response to that destination was "you couldn't afford to buy steak in Japan"🤷♀️ We ended up in Argentina..
Assuming I could tolerate the Heat, and I couldn't, my number one place in the world I would want to go is Dubai.
It's a toss up between these two countries:
Greece Switzerland

@beach-mom First I would spend a month in South America. I'd go to Peru and see Machu Picchu. Next go to Brazil to see the Christ the Redeemer statue. Then to Chile Atacama desert to see the observatory and get to look through their huge telescope at the night sky.
Wood like to see the Rainforest too in Venzuela while there. Also to Patagonia in Argentina and be lucky enough to get close to see the Strait of Magellan.
I would spend a month in Italy eating my way through the Boot of all kinds of regional pasta dishes. YUM. Pompeii and Herculaneum is a must.
My last month would be in UK. I'd like to see Stonehenge and Emperor Hadrian's Wall. The Hebrides Islands in Scotland and Penzance in Wales. I would love to see the abundance of green in Ireland and go on a wee pub crawl and have some authenic colcannon. Spend three days at London Museum of Natural History.
And then.....come home sweet home.

I would like to go to two elephant sanctuaries in Africa, Sheldrick Wildlife trust and Thula Thula Exclusive Private Game Reserve. Maybe a few weeks at both, I wouldn't want to be away from home for three months.

@Susan Louise - I've never been to any of the islands, and you look fantastic in that picture! You just look like you're having fun!
I would like to take DH to the places I've been too! Even if I go near to home to a museum or something with friends I always want to go back with him.
