Been thinking abt. this a while. What if Congress People were considered Part Time Workers. I am sure they don't ever average 40 hrs./wk for 50 wks/yr. They would get 1/2 salary and 1/2 value for health ins. for yrs. in Congress and prob. copays and deductables. Like us.
Pension would be greatly reduced and only for yrs. served and if any crime committed in office, then total forfeit of pension. When service ends, fed pension must be rolled into private IRA or 401K and suffer Wall St.s whims like us.
With all the great benefits of the Internet, don't think these folks need to be on Capitol Hill but a few times a year for floor votes. Save lots of travel time and make the lobbyists travel to them on their dimes, state by state, day after day, after day.
And bye bye big fancy, expensive gyms in the Capitol. Turn those over to WMCA's and Boys & Girls Clubs in the DC area. Those kids need a big break.
I really think this could work for State Legislatures just as well. What do you think?
