Raising awareness is a wonderful thing. To those praising it, have you taken the challenge? Don't forget. Walk the walk now!

My husband did and also made a contribution. A medical condition prevents me from participating but I too made a contribution.

They are doing both...and passing on the challenge too.

How do you know? Most of the ones I have seen make no mention of donating. Like I said, taking the bucket actually means you'd rather endure that than donate.

One of my FB friends who did this challenged her friends and said you can either do this or donate.{#emotions_dlg.confused1}

Some are doing both while others aren't. I've seen several videos on Facebook showing college kids taking the challenge and proud of the fact that they chose an ice bucket drenching over donating to a worthy cause.{#emotions_dlg.confused1}

Wonder how many ultra wealthy celebs are donating more than a $100.

People are obviously donating and taking the challenge. According to Time.com, since July 29, $5.5m has been donated to the ALS Association as opposed to only $32,000.00 during the same time last year.

This is such a fun and innovative way to raise money and awareness. It is also great to see some of the rich and famous get a bucket of ice cold water dumped on them!!

The rules of the game are accept the challenge and also make a small donation.
Refusing the challenge means a donation of $100.

As of today...it's over 16 million.

I saw no harm in it and thought it was wonderful too. Then I saw the photo above and made me look at it another way. Are they doing this in the drought in California?

I believe that a person should donate to a charity that matters to them without needing a publicity stunt, public exposure, or a gimmick. Clearly, these people don't care that much about ALS or they would have donated last year.
