@Desertdi Since you have to spend the 30 days to win the money, there has to be a way to "tap out" if you cannot make the full month.
It's the same with the show "Alone"-there is a way to communicate with the producers for rescue for any contestant who falls ill or has just had it with the challenge.
I'm sure one would be given some type of phone or way to communicate. It doesn't mean you can access the net or call your friends.

@TeddieWe missed the last season. I believe the contestants are para-professionals and/or trained in survival skills already.
I would think for this island castle challenge that the contestant would be well vetted before being allowed to participate.

@Cakers3 Yes, the people who go on Alone have to have some experience with survival skills. They couldn’t do it otherwise. It’s brutal out there! It’s quite the interesting show.
