Aeroflot has a TERRIBLE maintenance record.  Google their plane crashes.

I don't know about this particular carrier but I do know that Russian carriers have historically had incredibly bad maintenance and safety records.

Please know, I have not been in the industry for quite a while but I would be surprised to hear anything had improved.  I would also wonder what type of cargo they are allowed to carry on passenger planes in their cargo hold.

@momtochloe

I was wondering the same thing.

[ Edited ]

So very sad.  I Web searched: 'Russian airplane crash in Egypt  Daily Mail.'  Several (previous) photos of some of the passengers.  Heartbreaking.  Sending our thoughts of comfort to the families and friends.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

Re: ISIS claiming responsibility for Russian air crash

It was a bomb, and Putin is vowing to hunt down the bombers around the globe. Happy to see France and now Russia using unequivocal words against this threat. No namby-pamby or mealy-mouth words from these countries. I'm feeling safer already.

Re: ISIS claiming responsibility for Russian air crash

they just announced on our local news that there is a 50 million dollar reward.  i doubt that will help because money means nothing to these people, but you never can tell!

Re: ISIS claiming responsibility for Russian air crash

Syrian refugees arriving in Europe should form an army which can be sent back to 'liberate' their home country, instead of 'drinking coffee in the cafes of Berlin' while western soldiers face ISIS, the Polish foreign minister has said.

Witold Waszczykowski made the suggestion on Sunday, the day after French president Francois Hollande said they would carry out a 'merciless' war against ISIS in retaliation for the Paris' massacres.

Waszczykowski is part of Poland's new right-wing, eurosceptic government, which was sworn in Monday, after signalling it would take a hard line on Europe's biggest migrant crisis since World War II.

Good idea!  Someday they are going to run out of hiding places if they keep running.

Re: ISIS claiming responsibility for Russian air crash

Russia and France has formed an alliance  to destroy ISIS and really hoping that we would join them in this fight.  Russians hit 140 targets today. We are just saying silly things on TV  claiming that French and Russians have different agendas from us??!!

All of this makes me sick. It looks like 6th graders behavior .

It is so embarrassing for the US! We are just barking and Russians are hitting them with missles today. Putin vowed to destroy them, I heard him speak this morning. Somebody has a pair.
