Re: ISIS claiming responsibility for Russian air crash

I haven't seen many reports, but I did see one odd radar track where they showed the plane taking off and flying on one heading then veering left and continuing for a while on the new heading before crashing. They didn't appear to be trying to return to their departing airport. They may have been trying to go to an alternate airport, or it's possible the plane was being diverted by a hijacker/hijackers. ISIS has been targeting historic sites a lot and flying a jet into the great pyramids would be right up their alley. We'll have to see what the cockpit voice recorders show, but planes don't generally crash while in flight without help. Taking off and landing are the dangerous parts of flights where you typically see crashes.

I've seen several reports of this crash and none mentioned Isis.

CNN is now reporting that the plane may have exploded mid-air while in flight.  That is now being investigated.

Aeroflot has a TERRIBLE maintenance record.  Google their plane crashes.

I don't know about this particular carrier but I do know that Russian carriers have historically had incredibly bad maintenance and safety records.

Please know, I have not been in the industry for quite a while but I would be surprised to hear anything had improved.  I would also wonder what type of cargo they are allowed to carry on passenger planes in their cargo hold.
