I've been telling folks to make sure to print out all banking (and other) statements. At least monthly, although weekly would be ideal, in some instances.

ROMARY 1, Why would this be a good idea?

I think you will have a wonderful trip to Quebec. What a beautiful town that is.

If Muslims are so upset by the policies of France, why do they keep going there and taking advantage of their wonderful welfare and healthcare system? I know France has cut back on that in the past couple of years because they realize they cannot financially handle that but I don't understand why people go to a place where practicing some of their uncivilized practices won't be tolerated and then complain about it. If that is what they wish to do, stay in the countries that not only welcome it but demand it.

I've been reading that to really be safe, we should not do our banking online.

Makes sense to me.

How can you avoid this? My employer requires direct deposit. No paper checks.

There are no brick and mortar banks here that accept a utility payment. The closest bill pay center is 55 miles for me if you want to pay in person with cash.

If you write a paper check and mail it in, it's still processed electronically. They turn it into a debit from your account so they get the cash immediately. Few checks "clear" anymore.

irish,

instead of accepting the beliefs of their host country, their ambition is to convert that host country to their beliefs.

I hate to sound so uninformed but I really don't listen to news or hear much about all of this. Can someone tell me by you should avoid electronic banking?

I believe to avoid all the hacking that's going on. I went to mostly cash for daily transactions so I don't have to use my debit card. Gas station, groceries, lunch out, etc. Less use, less chance of a hack. I don't know that it's possible to avoid all online banking.

I've also tried to limit my online exposure by closing any profiles I have with websites I no longer do business with and make sure my cc info, address books, etc are deleted before closing.

Not foolproof by any means but less exposure is better.
