ISIS HACKS Worldwide French TV Network

I'm not sure how much this will be covered in the US so I thought I'd post this. On April 8 ISIS claimed responsibility for hacking into TV5 Monde, the network that broadcasts programs from French-speaking countries to viewers around the world. I'm one of the subscribers. I tuned in this morning and the usual programs weren't on so I checked their website, which was down. Then I did a search and found out what had happened. Their Facebook page was hacked into as well. A chilling message read that this was only the beginning, a punishment for France's policies. Months ago, for the first time in 21 years, I decided not to go to France. I was feeling sad, even homesick, for France but now I feel better about choosing Québec for my Francophile destination this year. It makes me so sad, and so angry, about all of this.

I've been telling folks to make sure to print out all banking (and other) statements. At least monthly, although weekly would be ideal, in some instances.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

I agree, it's only the beginning.

I'm glad you can travel to Ottawa. I have good friends in Toronto.

I also know what it's like to be homesick. {#emotions_dlg.blush}

Re: ISIS HACKS Worldwide French TV Network

Since I posted this news yesterday, I'm feeling better about my decision to go to Québec City and the Charlevoix region on the St Lawrence in a few weeks. The more I think about the potential for terrorism in France and nearby countries, the more I realize that I would not have the same joy and abandon that I used to have during my French trips. I know I'd be a bit uneasy on the Métro, which we take several times each day in Paris. We also travel the country by high speed train and being in those train stations would also give me a bit of a queasy feeling. I won't have that feeling in Québec Province, although they were not immune from terrorist attacks this year either. No place is 100% safe but I don't want to be caught in a horror story at a museum, a restaurant, or a grocery store. That's what happened in Brussels and Paris in the last year. It is so sad. I don't know where it all will end.

I've been reading that to really be safe, we should not do our banking online.

Makes sense to me.

unfortunately many ""anonymous"" members are terrorist supporters themselves. their bring down isis campaign has been a huge bust.
