@QGirl2, if you lost your father in the VietNam War, I offer my sincere condolences. I lost several friends from grade school, high school, and later, too. It was not my intention to "ruin" the thread. War is hell. Our world needs to learn to love, and that starts with each f us. Blessings in the highest.

@MacDuff@dooBdoo, there is evidence of offense in this thread, sadly.

The "Ode of Remembrance" from Laurence Binyon's poem, "For the Fallen", Stanza's 3 and 4, Sept 1914...

They went with songs to the battle, they were young.
Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

More "offense" where none was intended. SMH.

Thanks for great poppy flower (moving)  picture!  It reminds me of a poppy field that was around the block from my grandparents home in Gniezno, Poland.  I remember running through the field and gathering poppy seeds from flowers and eating them.  Boy were we happy kids:~D   Little did we know...about poppy seeds at 11.
