Is that money collected or pledged?

I believe they said "raised."

In fundraising (where I got my first job out of college) - the average return on pledges is 85%...so even if it is pledged, that's a LOT of money!

The article also referred to "donations" which is usually cold hard cash.

It's not like a telethon, with people taking pledges on a phone.

That is wonderful that this horrible disease is being talked about and people are understanding the painful way this takes over your body. There are many ways that people leave this world but I think that when you have ALS this is the worst to have to suffer with. We just laid to rest a beloved family friend and relative recently whom did not even last one year from finding out this was what was happening to them. Imagine that the only thing you can do with your body is move your eyes, nothing else and cannot drink a drop of liquid or swallow any food. Only move your eyes. I pray this money helps find a cure for the ones who will find out they have ALS.

I hope something I read was wrong about this foundation. It said that only 7% of the money raised goes toward research. I was shocked at that figure. I do hope it was wrong. The ice bucket challenge has raised so much money and it would be great if the majority of it went straight to research.
