The mentally ill defense fails many times.

They need to show a history of signs and symptoms and usually attempts at treatment.

It's not easy to prove, and rightfully so.

Just three weeks ago I was walking on the same sidewalks where this happened.  These sidewalks are very wide and hundreds of people are there all hours of the day/night.  Especially that time of evening because the tourists want to see the water show across the street.  It's so crowded that you have constantly have to dodge other people.  Looks to me that she deliberatly chose that time and place.  She drove into the crowd, backed up, and did it again.  That was planned.  I have a hard time understanding how she was able to drive 40 mph in that area.  Whenever I drive the strip I don't get over 20 mph because of all the pedestrians and traffic.  It's a nightmare.  I'm wondering if she was on drugs.  Drugs are easy to obtain in that atmosphere.  And lots of homeless people migrate to Vegas to live in the tunnels that run under the Strip.  They leave their cars in the hotel parking lots and then go into the tunnels where they have set up residence.

What a tragedy. The people who got hurt and the one that died. The family of the loved one lost. Tragedy for the people that was there at the time. Something they will never forget. Tragedy for the young woman driving the car. What was her problem with life and the living?  Why just why would anyone do such a terrible act of madness. A tragedy for the three year old in the back seat. Her emotions and now no mother. We go on with every day life that's what we are told to do and this goes to show you never know when you get out of bed in the morning if it's your last.
