I think there are a lot of normal looking people out there who are just pizzed off at the world. Fine one day and flip out the next. It's sad when innocent people are taken too for no reason.

There's some speculation she was living out of her car and been chased out of several places she had parked and tried to sleep.

Love Roses,

Loons have been on the roads since the horse and buggy days.  If you haven't noticed, I am guessing you haven't spent much time running on streets and roadways. Even walking off the road for my cool down, at times, was an adventure.

I will have to hear a whole lot more facts about this tragedy before I will say much about the "alleged" perp. I feel so sorry for the dead and injured and their loved ones.

Remember your loved ones because no one knows when their time here is done.

I think there are so many people that  just do not care about what they do to other people, it is everywhere.

This is a fascinating story because the sheriff said he wasn't "comfortable" announcing the reason she gave for driving onto that sidewalk.  He said she went into a hotel and told them what she did and said they should call 911.  He described her demeanor as "stoic."  I think they'll have to reveal the motive, given that this will be a court case.  She certainly sounded as if she was in a desperate situation just before she mowed these people down.

@occasionalrainI'm thinking no to a stuck accelerator because she went from the street to the walk and back to each once again.  Maybe more than once.

Very sad -  for the many injured, for the dead, and for the driver and her own child.

Thank you for your words John.  When I did venture out to run or power walk, it was an open place where others were around.  Yes, we must all remember the ones dear to us as we never know when they will be lost to us in this life.

The gal who is now in jail was someone who was helped to become something of herself and she did a documentary, had all her educational expenses paid, etc.  Doesn't make sense.

They will say likely she was mentally ill, they blame that on so many things people do, but i think it is used way too often, there are people that are just mean, and don't care about others. The dead ,and hurt are overlooked.

There are reasonable precautions we can take while not being obsessed with it.

LE are always reminding us to look for the exits when we enter a place we are not familiar with.

I never walk close to the sidewalk curb, I usually stay fairly close to buildings as long as I don't interrupt the flow of human traffic.  I have seen people driving cars jump the curb before.

Recently I came face to face with a disturbed stranger, totally normal looking.  He began to rant and seemed violent. While trying to report him to the police, I started having trouble with old faithful, my cell pnone.  I said never again, and 24 hours later had a brand new smart phone.  And I had DD make sure the tracking device was on.  We keep reading about people driving off the road and only those with a phone tracking device are found.
