@qualitygal If you go to YouTube and in the search bar type White Winter Hymnal a number of versions will come up in a listing.

There is one with a group of young women (yes, maybe 30 of them!) with a German or Swiss sounding name (Der Somethingorother....) and I bet that's the one you are looking for.  Good Luck!

"My mother told me ..."

(while they are clapping along with the song)

"La la la la la.." (These aren't the words but the correct words go along with the rhythm above.)

"La la la la la..."

"La la la la la..."

Well... I'm hearing the song in my head but the rest of the words I can't think of. 

Please let us know the name of the song. I'd like to hear it ! 
The song l was thinking of was probably more for children!

@qbetzforreal   Sorry, if you look a few posts ahead of yours you can see that someone did find it for me.  I appreciate your help though.  Group called Pentatonix are in a forrest background and they sing it too. Called White Winter Hymnal.
