About pain meds...
the town I came from in Texas (same town as Cowboy stadium)
every pharmacy was raided by the federal agency for drug control (FDA) and many were shut down all because of the sale of opioids. Too many were sold.
Too many doctors lost their licenses because of not enough regulation.
My BIL, who was a rep for Pfizer told me this when I complained because a neurologist would not RX the meds I had used for headaches. The doctors were actually running scared about these meds and I don't know if things are back to normal even yet.
@LTT1. And yet the people who really need and don't abuse controlled drugs must jump through hoops to get them.
My doctor wanted to prescribe one for me and then described all I had to do to get it. I told him to forget it. No wonder people buy street drugs.

@GoneButNotForgotten I'm so sorry about the bad fall that you had- that must've been really scary. Thank God that you didn't break anything. The bruises will definitely take time to heal, but someday they will completely fade. Please take it easy and use this time to relax and catch up on your favorite shows or movies. I hope that the construction project can end soon. Do you have a white noise machine? That might help to drown out the construction noise a little. I'll think good thoughts for you as you heal from the fall that you had.

If the pain doctor is watching like a hawk, it is probably something he has to do to every patient. It could be some are very forgetful ( my mother and early dementia ) and others have a hidden problem ( my cousin had severe bipolar inherited issues and was prone to addiction of any or all types ).
These pain doctors know how fragile some patients are as far as addiction so they don't take any chances. Be glad yours cares enough.

Okay you fell and got a major boo-boo - you have my sympathy and maybe more for the incessant mind-screaming noise you've been forced to endure. I do have to say something very trite though: BE GLAD you didn't break your back. I did a couple years ago and I'm still shocked by how it took me down. I was an active in-shape independent lady until I wasn't. I slipped while walking in a dirt/rock area that was someone's property then ended up on my back. That was the first time in my many decades of life I needed help getting out of bed and to the toilet. Then back to the bed. And - it's still bothering me and limiting my mobility. I continue with meds and injections so I can have some functionality. That Doctor should be smacked so get whatever pain relief he's able to prescribe - Pain Management doctors are allowed to do more than regular doctors. Try some in office injections with light steroids.

I too agree.
You are so correct. For people who need pain meds and can't get them, I feel for them very much.
Here's wishing you a complete and speedy recovery. ❤️🩹

@GoneButNotForgotten wrote:The last 2 weeks have been really unpleasant. My city has spun the wheel and it landed in my neighborhood. They commenced some loud, heavy construction and promised it would be done by December. And guess what--it's still going on. I hope my house doesn't collapse from the shaking.
A few weeks ago, I slipped and fell in the bathroom--stark naked, I might add. Had to be loaded into an ambulance (they did cover me up) and I spent several hours while they tried to figure out if I'd broken my ankle. Fortunately I didn't but it's been several trips to see my doctor. Also I see a "pain" (no kidding!) doctor. He evidently doesn't trust me with pain medication and is watching me like a hawk, and I resent it because I've never misused the stuff.
And now I've got some ugly, painful bruises which are on my left arm, aortunately.
Thanks for letting me rant.
Don't resent the pain doctor. He's doing his job.
Every addict in the world says they don't misuse pain meds (not that you ever did or do). Look at it from his viewpoint. I'd be the same way if I was a pain doctor.
