Just how much was this 'Coach' handbag that she 'needed'?

lol when I read that OP said "unlike many, my girls actually need things.." I thought she meant true needs, like essentials (linens, warm coats, cooking stuff, etc). You know, needs not wants or nice to haves. I was confused by that statement. Then when she said a Coach handbag I laughed. Perhaps her statement was tongue in cheek (hopefully??).

Anyway, OP, call your CC and cancel payment immediately.

This daughter is far from a spender.  The handbag she is carrying now is a hand-me-down from me, and it was almost ten years old when I gave it to her.  She is very frugal.  She won't even buy a Sunbeam heating pad as I have been nagging her to do.  She uses one of those plastic things from the drug store.  Ugh!

Hi lilac..why not get her a nice heating pad and a handbag from the Q?  i would cancel that other purchase,as it seems like a scam to me..

Get your money back from the cc company first.  Perhaps you can find another bag online (ebay?) similar if not the exact one she wants.  May cost you more.  But most important, get her the Sunbeam heating pad!

I always ask my daughters what they'd like as a Christmas present.  Unlike many, my girls actually need things.  One of my daughters wanted a new handbag and sent me a photo of a Coach she liked that was offering a huge discount.  Without thinking (I should have known better) I just went ahead and ordered it.

That was several weeks ago.  All I received was an "email" type notification that my payment went through and I would receive the paperwork when they shipped the bag.  No Coach logo, no address, nothing that looked legitimate.  I was immediately suspicious.  I wrote back that I would like a phone number just in case there was a problem.  I received the same email back about shipping the paperwork at the time they shipped the bag.  I have received nothing.

I know I can contact my CC company, but am wondering if I should wait a little while longer to see if the handbag arrives.

Anyone been through this and have any suggestions?

You didn't order from the actual Coach website, or even a reputable store like Macy's, which sells Coach? You can't even buy a Coach wallet for $57.

After doing additional research on this company via Google, I found it on a list of fraudulent Asian websites.  I called my CC company and they are issuing a new card and I should see a credit to my account for the money paid in 7 to 10 days.

They are also going to do a fraud investigation, but are not going to make me wait for that.  They were wonderful about this and very cooperative.  She said they see a lot of this, especially from Asian companies and during the holiday season.

All of you recommended that I do that right away and I did.  Thank you all so much.

You don't know how much I want to get her the Sunbeam heating pad, but we have argued about it so much I'm afraid she'll get mad!!

Glad it's being handled by them!  Lesson learned, eh?

Hey, I had to learn that lesson too.  Years ago I almost ordered a camera from a place like that and if that weren't enough, I almost did it several years after that.  D'oh!    Anyway, I learned to be TOTALLY careful after that.

Fortunately, I didn't lose any money either but if I had, knowing me, I'd probably be beating myself up over it for a long time.

I have to say I would not have ordered the bag myself, but she loved this one so much that I ordered it for her.  I only order from trusted sites that I have used often.

I just wrote to let her know she is not getting that bag and why.  She wrote back that she feels so guilty, but I was able to calm her when I told her that I was getting my money back.  As I said about her in another post, she rarely orders anything on line, but it was I who should have checked it out.

Anyway, all's well that ends well.  I still have a gift to get is all.  She wants me to pick it out.

Edit to delete..as I should of read the replies.

I did laugh at the "need" and then Coach Pocketbook...while she may NEED one..a Coach isn't exactly a need lol!

Macy's has Friends and Family sale often where you can take 25% off.....Coach has Outlet online but you need to sign up for the invitations..and while many of them are made for outlet bags - they are still Coach..not $57 though...somebody said you cannot purchase a wallet for that - very true!

It was definitely too good to be true category so it isn't..and I would put the heating pad in the bag!  She will get over it..I cannot imagine anybody getting mad about their mom buying them something they need.

When dealing with an unfamiliar website, I always contact customer service to see how quickly they respond before ordering.  Generally, I avoid companies that you can only contact by email because it usually indicates delayed responses.

I also look for reviews.
