I'm pretty good on TP, not the brand I like but oh well.

I was also able to buy a 3  pack of the large Kleenex tissues.   Will work as a substitute if necessary

Don't forget that just like wipes, we're not supposed to flush tissues. Something about they don't break down like TP does and contribute to blocking up the pipes. Or so I read. The article showed a photo as well of how TP breaks down in water but tissues don't.

I actually prefer the Scott 1000 1ply paper recommended for RV use and by plumbers for septic tanks and plumbing that tends to clog.  Of course you can't find it either.

That's what we use at home and in our RV's.  Costco has it in stock in packs of 36 rolls.

Re: I think I found toilett paper

I was in Walmart this mornng around 8 am.  No toilet paper.  I asked and was told they had it at 7 am but it sold out in 15 minutes.  They did have paper towels but I don't need them.

I went to Costco today for Senior hours. They had plenty of toilet paper, paper towels and disinfectant wipes. You are limited to 1 per day per member. They were fully stocked on most items.

I agree - Costco has those items during Senior Hour (early!). I also heard the stores won't take back hoarded items...which is good. If we all bought reasonably, there wouldn't have been a shortage.

OMG - that is so frustrating. You have to be there at the crack of dawn. Soon, the stores will be like Toys-R-Us on Black Friday with lines around the store.

@shaggygirl @software  Tim Carter's a master plumber who publishes a syndicated column as "Ask the Builder." He also distributes a weekly electronic newsletter, which I receive. A recent newsletter included a video that showed how well, or badly, various alternatives to toilet paper dissolved as they worked their way through the pipes. He rigged up a toilet, at second floor height, with pipes carrying waste to a bucket at the end (your septic tank or county sewer system). I always assumed these pipes followed a straight line to the sewer system, but they zigzag several times before getting there.

Tim ran a demo flushing toilet paper, flushable wipes, tissues, paper towels, Legos, plastic soldiers, etc. The toilet paper was well-dissolved by the time it hit the bucket. Of the 3 types of flushable wipes tested, only Cottonelle brand even began dissolving by the time they hit the bucket. Everything else was intact when it hit the bucket. This might not be an immediate problem with a single flush, but can become a problem when flushed multiple times throughout the day, as the tp alternatives are likely to get clogged in one of the zigzags. If you run out of tp and need to use an alternative, Tim recommends disposing of them as you would dirty diapers.

@Eileen in Virginia

@shaggygirl

I'm on septic, I don't flush anything that doesn't come out of my body.

I have a small covered trash can for all variations of paper products, I tie it up every night, send it to the trash

I'm 67, no need to lecture me.

But thanks anyway

Re: I think I found toilett paper

In my state, seniors and anyone with compromising health issues are being asked to stay home -- period.

But even before this, it was difficult to impossible to score TP or PT locally. So my stash is from literally stalking Amazon and pouncing immediately.

II think that I'm now set for life when it comes to TP, PT, tissues, napkins, and personal wipes.
