I try to use the word "purchase". To me, it sounds a little nicer than grab.

Using the word "bucks" instead of "dollars" rubs me the wrong way.

@Sooner,

My dream is where is the lovely butler who will haul all these dang groceries up into the house and put them away!

@on the bay LOL!!!!  I have always said I'd rather have a butler than a mail.  Shop, answer the door and the phone, keep supplies in order, switch my closet from fall to spring, deal with repair people, etc.

Do you have a fridge in the garage?  Best thing ever!  Just dump it in there until it is needed in the house!  Need milk?  Got it!!!  Woman Very Happy

A person needs to be more formal if addressing Congress,  Parliament, the board of directors,  a judge....

But, casual vernacular seems fine for everyday living...

If a store associate addressed me as "Madam"......I'd assume they were an ESL speaker.

@Shanus Well, you can look down on me because I use bucks and grabs more than dollars and purchases.

There must be some psychological reasons that certain phrases are used........I guess this "new" terminology that's become popular and is used by both Shopping Channel Hosts and consumers make a purchase LESS focused on what they are SPENDING and the CA$H that's now GONE to bring an item home...especially in view of inflation.....

And JMHO but "grabbed" makes me think of shoplifting

@Spurt "Grabbed" is what I did for 40 years when I worked late very often and so did spouse and one of us had to stop and get something from the store on the way home so we could eat that night or take our medicine.

I imagine people are more worried about getting formula for their babies.
