Re: I must have a sleeping sickness

I feel I was sleep deprived for 27 years; especially the 16 years on night shift.

Since I retired, I let my body decide how much sleep it needs. If I go to bed at midnight and sleep until 10 a.m., I figure that's how much sleep my body needed. I do not nap during the day, unless I am sick.

Re: I must have a sleeping sickness

im always tired.. but i have a crazy work schedule, sometimes getting home at 8 then having to be back up at 5am... and i usually only sleep about 5 hrs a night. so on my days off im usually home in my pj's (unless i have errands to run)  and i love to take naps when im off... i just need a normal sleep schedule.. i wish i could be asleep everynight by 9 or 10 and sleep straight through... that will never happen.

Re: I must have a sleeping sickness

I really think it's the pandemic. When this all started last March, it wasn't too bad. In May we opened our pool and that lasted till the second week of September. I'm in SW PA, so pool season is pretty short here. That was my social life. My couple good friends and family could be in the pool without masks and talk and laugh and socialize. Then the cold weather came and I have no motivation. My get up and go got up and went. I never in a million years thought we would all still be in this predicament a year later. Right now my goal is to get a vaccine. Nothing should be that hard. It's like playing Where's Waldo? A good part of my afternoon yesterday and today was checking websites. You get so far, start to get excited, and they all say the same thing. Not taking appointments, no vaccine a available. I'm on lists for a couple different places, but I check them anyway. I'm not overly confidant that they'll get in contact with me.PA needs to get their s**t together and make this a little less complicated.  Ok, rant over! LOL❤️

Re: I must have a sleeping sickness

@KKJ I truly feel your pain. For the last year I have averaged 3-4 hours a night. NOTHING I have tried has helped, and I have used Benadryl, homeopathic, Bach Remedies, herbs, vitamins, deep breathing, hot baths. I will not use a prescription drug because that's what caused this in the first place!

Re: I must have a sleeping sickness

Thanks for your post @furbabylover . It helps to know I'm not the only one going through this.  I am taking a prescription med--Hydroxyzine---but would like to not have to take it all the time.  I did get some Sleep gummies at WM recently that are Melatonin and L-Theanine and they help some.

Re: I must have a sleeping sickness

@KKJ I'm glad you are finding some relief. I tried melatonin and had a paradoxical reaction- I paced the floor all night. Horrible! I also tried L-Theanine and nothing happened. I just have to wait out the withdrawal time from the prescription drug that caused this. It usually takes 2 years. I have come to learn that millions of people are suffering from insomnia caused by medication withdrawal. I have found that if I snuggle with my pup during the day I can sometimes catch a half hour nap, which helps.
