For more about the fake Joe Rogan podcast see the article below in Verge online. You will be able to see and hear it. This is about voice simulation AI from a company called DESSA. To read more, look up speech synthesis AI.

Yes, AI has been unleashed on the world. I don't think the cork will be put back in that bottle.
Get ready for nanotech.
I'm kind of glad my life is winding down. Not that death is imminent, but I don't like this new world.

Those commands are information that can be stored and shared in ways we do not understand.
Back in 2016 when Google Home was first launched, I bought my first one. You're supposed to have to say "Hey Goolge" for it to hear it's wake phrase and "listen" for a command or question. It was a dark cold night. DH wasn't home. I was in my bedroom, read something and (outloud) exclaimed "Oh my goodness!". Without a prompt from me, Google said "Gee, I hope everything is ok". I will never forget that. Super spooky! Seven years later, I have 13 Google devices with ears and eyes. Of course I realize this is small bananas compared to what is going on now and talked about in this thread. What are our viable options? I don't think there are any. Sure, you can opt not to buy Google Nest and Alexa devices. That will help but privacy is a thing of the past and it's not going to get any better. Did you know there are embedded cameras in the packaging of some products that sit on our store shelves? Sounds like that is probably old new to some of you in this thread. I don't even know how I got here LOLOL! A few months ago I came across extremely realistic AI "people" for advertising purposes. We see them all over the web and don't even realize it.

I am unnerved by the capabilities of AI and what it is already doing. It can now be used to read medical tests such as mammograms, MRIs, etc and it can detect or diagnose breast cancer or other conditions via the tests it reads. What if it gives a false positive or false negative? Human error is always a factor, but what about human reasoning? I may trust that more than AI. It truly is artificial.
Also saw a report that AI can see a brain scan and predict if the person will develop Alzheimer's disease decades into the future. Even if it's accurate, would you want to know now? I think it would destroy my life in the present.

They did, and one I know, ended up in a very high place.

Gee, I thought by now a moratorium on the further development of these systems would have been issued by the United Nations, the US Government, and nations all over the world. For all these leading scientists, physicists, computer scienctists, and specifically AI experts to come together and sound the alarm is unprecedented. The systems we are looking at now are baby systems. They are looking at the matured ones that are being developed. Everything else is just noise, this is the biggest threat we are facing. There is an old science fiction movie called Colossus that explores this dilemma. It is almost like an alien life form is being introduced to earth. As humankind, and controllers of planet earth, we are at a fork in the road. Are we ready to cede power to AI? We can either control AI, and experience huge solutions to all kinds of basic issues and problems, or we can fumble the ball and become extinct. Which way will we go?

The complete name of the old science fiction movie is Colossus: The Forbin Project. Things aren't moving fast enough. The prospect of making money is getting in the way of thinking about the survival of mankind. Every top Tom, ******, and Harry in the IT world is working on it and is in the race to get there first. Without control, when they get there, it will be to our demise. The experts who wrote the letter aren't reaching the people in power.
One MIT professor who signed the letter noted that we have already prohibited research in certain academic areas, Notably people cannot get into nuclear weapons, or human cloning. AI may be another one.
In response to the letter by the experts, one writer in Time Magazine wrote an interesting article titled, "Pausing AI Development Isn't Enough: We Need to Shut It All Down". This is an unfolding drama that impacts all of us.
