Exactly!

I've clicked on tons of videos and stories, etc, and never has one surprised me with a porn ad or anything.

Not.

Even.

Once.

I was over Facebook in less than a week of being on it. It is a haven for narcissim, among other things.

And then watching an expose about how they keep a database of all the pictures posted including the names of the people in the pictures. They share the database with the government. It doesn't even matter if you delete the pictures- as soon as they are posted, they are in the database. Something about that just seems wrong.

It's not of all the pictures posted, it's the profile pictures which are always public.  Don't want your face in a database, then don't post your actual pic in your profile.  Easy peasy.

It amazes me at those who think it's some big bad thing all about evil. LOL

Good grief now the government conspiracies garbage.

The OP must be looking at something that triggers it.

I wasn't referring to the pop up ads - who cares about an ad for jewelry or shoes  - i am talking about if you open a site to look at a video that may be something innocent like a recipe or a video about preventing heart disease, but that is only a small part of the page and the rest of the page is all this disgusting krap.Or perhaps the facebook post will say something like 20 hairdos for short hair - but then when you try to run the slideshow - OMG - the stuff that is also on the screen ! The ad block has taken care of it - but if you think that yoiur kids would not see this if they opened the wrong site - you are very naive.

Guess dumping facebook is the right thing to do then if you cannot resist clicking on advertisements on the page!  I learned quickly that the junk on the side is really just advertisement ploys, especially the supposed celebrity nonsense.  The few times I clicked on those stupid things on the side, what came up had nothing to do with the celebrity and was as you said nothing but ad after ad - never however was it porno, never.

If I want news, recipes, gossip, whatever I don't look for it on the facebook side panel.  I use google or another search engine.

I use facebook as a quick and easy means to stay in touch with family and friends who are scattered around the world and it's perfect for that.

I don't think FB allows nudity or graphic images.

I have never seen porn ads or pictures ever.  The ads I see pertain to where I have previously been such as QVC or HSN or Amazon.  The exact stuff I have looked at comes up in ads.

I wonder who else is using the OP's computer and what are they looking at?

For those who HAVEN'T given up on facebook and are perhaps not happy about the ads showing on their pages - open your facebook and look at the very bottom of the right hand column where those ads and the trending stuff shows.  In light, tiny print, there are some clickable selections regarding privacy and ads.  Click on the ads and you can pick the settings regarding what you see.
