We are counting our blessings one of one. We are postponing dinner out tomorrow night for our 50th wedding anniversary & the Firemen's Dance tomorrow night has been cancelled. I have an AI disorder so we are just happy to be healthy right now. Lots of schools, sports events, the St. Patrick's Day parade has been cancelled. The list goes on and on. Are we sad? No. This too shall pass.
@twinny70 A very happy anniversary to you!!

@lovesrecess Not having religious services when folks need it the most? Maybe it can be televised. At Yom Kippur, the rabbi does a separate service aired for those who cannot make it to Temple. It's one of the most religious holidays and important to many. I assume Easter and attending church in general is similar.
***God is everywhere. You can pray from home, too.

@twinny70 I'm wishing you and your significant other a Happy 50th Anniversary, what a milestone. You are blessed to have each other, hopefully you can reschedule your celebration dinner.

It's really hard to muster up empathy for someone who complains about being bored in the best of circumstances. Complaining about it at this point in time is just, well, I don't know what. Crazy.

@chessylady wrote:Several events I looked forward to have been cancelled. I understand the need to self isolate. Even though I am not sick, I have decided to stay home except for groceries. I am 70 years old and live alone. I need to stay healthy. My health care provider will provide testing for free. That is, if tests are available when I need them. I believe that in a week, many more people will be infected and more deceased. We need to care for ourselves as well as others by staying home. The bill that passed today will help those who have no insurance and no sick leave.
@chessylady, you might want to consider on-line grocery shopping. I think that they are all now offering drop-off at your door.

My district has annouced plans to have to go meals-breakfast and lunch available everyday starting Tuesday. Any student with or without a parent or guardian just needs to come to any school entrance between 11:00-1:30 for 2 to go meals. The are also working on delivering meals to locations in the community where they are needed the most.
Philadelphia is also doing the same thing as well as opening rec centers for parents who cannot take off work to care for their children. The mayor did not want to close schools. He said students were safer in school. But PA governor closed all PA K-12 schools.
I'm glad to know that our most needy students will not suffer due to school closing.

I work as an on call sub in the DE school district (Cape Henlopen). I had not gotten a call Thursday or Friday of this week and thought that was odd. Now I see that I will not be working in the district the next 2 weeks.
I do have another part time job, so that will help out.
I really feel for everyone in the school districts, especially the children in the special education classes.

I feel for you because I work with a woman in the same situation. She was so worried if we went out for 2 weeks, which we did (PA). I really feel for you, her and any that are in this predicament.
