I'm going to be bored and broke for the next two weeks

Even though the state of Delaware only has 4 cases of Coronavirus which are contained to the U of D, the Govenor has decided to close schools in the entire state for two weeks. Since I work in a school district I will be home for two weeks without pay since I'm a contractor and only get paid when I have billiable hours. Plus I am wondering if I will have to work during our district's scheduled spring break which would be a bummer b/c my daughter is coming home from Cambridge UK during that time.

"Only 4 cases" which I assume were confirmed by testing that is hardly available to everyone in Delaware, so it quite possibly is much larger than you think.

I hope your daughter comes back from Cambridge unaffected.

We are counting our blessings one of one. We are postponing dinner out tomorrow night for our 50th wedding anniversary & the Firemen's Dance tomorrow night has been cancelled. I have an AI disorder so we are just happy to be healthy right now. Lots of schools, sports events, the St. Patrick's Day parade has been cancelled. The list goes on and on. Are we sad? No. This too shall pass.

Area hosptials have hosted drive thru screenings and testing. Of course results won't be available for 3-5 days. The individuals at UD contracted the virus at a conference in NJ. There has been no community spread. The state's health department actually recommended NOT to close schools but the govenor has done so anyway. While I do want everyone to be safe, I think it was a little premature and I worry about the low income students who rely on school for meals and health care.

My daughter is a graduate student at Cambridge and just finished her second out of three semesters there. She says the UK has approximately 700 cases and have done nothing to stop the spread.

I believe there are only 9 "confirmed" cases in my state, but of course that's not a true number. Everything has been cancelled, including school.

it's going to be different for all of us. We may be bored, we may face financial issues.

Several events I looked forward to have been cancelled. I understand the need to self isolate. Even though I am not sick, I have decided to stay home except for groceries. I am 70 years old and live alone. I need to stay healthy. My health care provider will provide testing for free. That is, if tests are available when I need them. I believe that in a week, many more people will be infected and more deceased. We need to care for ourselves as well as others by staying home. The bill that passed today will help those who have no insurance and no sick leave.

Darned if I see any prematurity in this entire process. We still have no idea when testing kits will become available, nor is there an accurate count of community spread. It some times takes several weeks for some to be symptomatic and in the meantime they may be contageous. This is one sneaky, diabolical virus.

If you see the charts 4 went to thousands in 3 weeks,this is being done for your health. Lets hope this works. This is unprecedented and it appears to be the humane thing to do.
