Re: I'm getting so frustrated with the USPS

I mailed a package Monday, priority mail.

I was told it would be there Tuesday, tracked it to find out it would be late and that's it.  As of now all it says is in transit, arriving late, delivery date unknown.  I'm not happy..

@CelticCrafter  And the prices we pay to have things mailed- WOW! Sorry about your package.

Postmaster General DeJoy has stake in USPS competitors and has purposely slowed down the mail. He needs to be replaced...like yesterday.

I don't mind paying bills on line, but I do like to get a hard copy of the bill in the mail.  I have had instances where a bill was sent by email but ended up in my spam and I missed it, incurring late fees.

And, I HATE auto-pay!  I will pay my bills on MY schedule, thankyouverymuch!

@Suzeecat I get 90% of my bills in email and what I do to make sure I never miss one is create a spreadsheet every year where I list any possible bill I might get along with the typical due date and then a column for each month.  When I get a bill, I enter the amount next to it and I use the spreadsheet to pay my bills every month.

This way if I haven't recorded a bill I should've have got, I know and can look for it or go online and find out how much is due.  If I get any infrequent bills, I just write them in at the bottom.  If you don't use Excel, you could just write the payees/dates on a piece of paper and make copies to use each month to record.  Just suggestions as I've found it really helps me to keep track of things so I never miss a bill.

I love auto pay, but only for things that are the exact same amount each month like insurance, car loan, cell phone.

Re: I'm getting so frustrated with the USPS

I have been receiving my mail on a regular basis but this week has been a nightmare. Informed Delivery shows what I will be getting that day but this week I have received nothing. Contacted the PO and was told they don't know what is happening with my mail; even the mail person noticed it. I was told it nothing changes by next Wednesday to call back. So who knows where or when I will receive it.

@lkat  That's what we've been talking about doing. Great suggestion- thanks!

Surprisingly, for me, USPS is doing a pretty good job now.  Since January, everything arriving on time.  Knock on wood.

@lkat

I feel the same way you do @Suzeecat .

I still pay most of my bills by mail, but I do the same thing as @lkat .

I have a sheet of paper with all my monthly bills listed and their approximate due dates.  When I pay a bill, I put down the check number and date I mailed it.  I can easily look down the list and see if anything is getting close to its due date and hasn't arrived yet.  I've paid a couple of bills by phone when I thought I wouldn't be getting the bill in enough time to send a check.

Re: I'm getting so frustrated with the USPS

My Informed Delivery is normally really good, but I have to agree that this week it's been totally screwed up for some reason.

Thankfully most of my mail recently hasn't been important.  But I did get my tax receipt yesterday and it had never showed up in the Informed Delivery email.

But better to get something that wasn't shown that not get something that was!
