Re: I'm back from my interview...

@grandma r I've only had brief encounters with the new people since we're not sold yet. Let's just say it would not surprise me if they let me set everything up and then decided to cost cut.  But this is their first foray into our type of business so I may be more useful than I think.  I just don't know yet.

The soon to be old owners never said hello five years ago, thank you ever, or goodbye on a Friday.  Good riddance!

I think the pharmacy manager is so new she is overwhelmed and doesn't know what she's doing.  Supposedly the pharmacist is new too and I would think that would be a better more professional encounter if we get that far since his or her license is literally in my hands.

Re: I'm back from my interview...

@Laura14

Well...

You were very unhappy with the previous job, not just the owners, but, I thought pretty much demanding/unreasonable clients, duties, lack of challenges, ...

Are you sure you’re not feeling a bit scared, unsettled, looking for the familiar, safe nest, the perfect soft landing?

@bikerbabe is so right on with my experience with clinical interviews.  You can provide a new employee, who has passed exams, licensing, with more / enhanced technical skills, but you can NOT build in those gut people skills, the delivery of the skill set that come from the heart / character, they have to be there from the start.

You seemed to have thought through leaving very carefully, and you seemed really ready for it.  I would critically examine what they offer to see if you can work it to fit in with your new plans, not as full time job, or with any length of service expectations, but to me it would be just as a gig for the cash flow as it worked around your new priorities.

I’m a fool me once... kind of person.

Re: I'm back from my interview...dee

@alicedee No my current employer didn't even ask me if I wanted to transfer even though the GM over there begged.  It's just too far away and the current owners are beyond unprofessional with me and the customers so I really wanted to leave because mentally it just was getting to me.  I offered to help train on my own time any new person replacing me at the remote location as a courtesy to the remaining GM whose wife called and got me this potential pharmacy job.  My employer may be ignorant.  I'm not.

Re: I'm back from my interview...

Actually @CatsyCline , the words out of my mouth today were how low everyone's expectations have gotten in the working world.  It's trying to be a consummate professional in a casual Friday work world.  I'm becoming a dinosaur and frankly making others look bad.  I dressed for the interview.  My interviewer had jeans.  It's just different nowadays and when you haven't interviewed in 20 years, it's shocking how insular that bubble becomes.

You're right.  The game is a lot different and much more casual with a lower bar for all involved these days.  It's just weird.

Re: I'm back from my interview...

@Drythe Smiley Surprised Get out of my head!  Wow!  That's exactly where I am.  I was waiting for the interview time and thought to myself about what I really wanted to do and then just listened.  It honestly really wasn't any of the options here as is.  You are spot on with the safe nest.  I just start panicking about no paycheck but then I really will be okay with some time off and a good emergency fund.   The manager said to me as one of the last things in the interview that I'll bet you're really going through it right now.  Um, yes!

I have family coming into town tomorrow for a few days.  It will be interesting to get their thoughts from them.

Re: I'm back from my interview...

@Laura14  since you asked.....LOL  I would wait and see if you get an offer letter from your old place/new owner and see what they have to say.  Agree with other posters who said you don't seem one bit enthused about that pharmacy job and since its far away and not where you want to be - think those are the words you used - I would wait until something comes up that you want.

Re: I'm back from my interview...

As someone who drives 1.5 hours each way to work, commute is HUGE.  I hate being stuck in traffic and having no control over it, and then doing that trek daily in the dark winter months is horrid.  It would have to be a pretty great job and offer for me to change.  I'd take less salary and a shorter commute to save my sanity (within reason, of course).

@Hoovermom I hope your DH is having success on his end too and @SunSprite still thinking of you on your own job front.  Heart

Thanks all for walking with me through all of this.  Your advice and virtual hugs have brought me more comfort than you know this past week.  I know I've been a posting hog lately so I am returning this board back to the Coronavirus.  You all rock!  Smiley Happy

Re: I'm back from my interview...

@Laura14  Thank you for tagging me! I had just attempted twice to respond to a virus post with a way too long post of my own, and it kept messing up. I am taking that as a sign from above to just zip my lip Smiley Very Happy

You have an interesting dilemma on your hands there my friend. Which way do you feel you are leaning? Please don't take my advice, because I'm not always very good at it Smiley Tongue, but I would have such a hard time trusting the new owners of your current job. Does the company you interviewed with today seem to have more room for advancement?

As for me, I will definitely be staying put until this virus situation stablilizes. I'm trying so hard to get everyone on my team issued equipment to work remotely; we are non-clinical and what we do could in fact be done from home. The problem is we have now run out of equipment (apparently other departments share the same idea I do lol) so I'm only about halfway there. I have the ability to work remotely and with my health issues really should be doing that right now, but what kind of hypocrite would that make me if others on my team with their own health issues do not have that option?

Anyway, too much uncertainty for me to leave now but if nothing else all of this is ramming home the idea that life is short and we should do our best to be happy while we are here.

(which is code for get off your fanny SunSprite and move where you really want to be as soon as you can hahaha).

Please keep us posted on what ends up happening. I would so love to see a great ending for you in this.

Make that a great beginning
