Re: I'm Still Stunned.... Warning.... Long explanation.

Sorry you had to deal with this. I have been through the same. These kids today are not going to be able to keep a job if they don't know when to keep their mouth shut.

I hope you did not leave him a tip. He keeps it up he will quit on his own because he will not make any money without those tips. We don't tip if we get a waitress/waiter that argues with us.

I hate men that think they can put a woman in her place. LOL!!! Not happening with me. Our next door neighbor tried to do that to me when DH was talking to him about his trees etc ( that's another story) & I put him in his place & told him like it is. He thought he could tell me this was between him & DH & I let him know I was also involved because I was married to the guy he was talking to & no deal would be made without my 2 cents.

Easy solution---DON'T GO THERE EVER AGAIN!!!....and spread the word locally about the service/food too..

Interesting response.  I can't eat eggs.  I didn't tell the waiter why, it was none of his business.  I didn't order eggs, but he brought them to me anyway.  Why shouldn't I make a big deal out of it?  Had I been allergic and didn't notice they were real eggs, I would have been in real trouble....and so would the restaurant!.

You would have been p.o'd if someone ordered one thing and got something else? Upset because you were told someone couldn't eat eggs and didn't order eggs.  I didn't feel the reason why was any of his business.  And it isn't.  I rarely eat eggs because of cholesterol.... so I can't have them.  Because I ordered them the next time shouldn't affect him in any way.....(it was a treat as I said in my OP) and I can't believe that I have to lay down my medical history regarding this in order to "satisfy" a server who thinks they need to understand why.

So...you CAN eat eggs, you usually CHOOSE not to.  Big difference.  It's no wonder he questioned you on your second visit.  And if it's none of his business on your second visit, it was none of his business on your first visit.

You DID tip him.  Because you felt sorry for him?  A charity tip?  A pity tip?  Certainly not for his excellent service.

And yet you berated him loudly with the intention of attracting the attention of others.  Trying to imagine that...yelling back and forth, hubby gets involved, and leave a tip on the table...or did you hand it to him?...on your way out.

WOW.  Woman Surprised

eta...Had you been allergic you would have SAID you were allergic and more likely than not care would have been taken to avoid serving you eggs.

I totally, and 100% agree with you.

That's why I said there is a difference between , "I CAN'T eat eggs", and "I DON'T eat eggs".

The o/p can clearly eat eggs, just simply chooses not to.

As another pointed out, eggs don't really affect cholesterol.

If one is allergic to eggs, I would think that they would say, "I can't have eggs".

If it's simply a matter of choice, because one can eat them, with no ill effects, then I would think that they would say, "I DON'T eat eggs".

That all may be true but:

(1) It was nevertheless highly inappropriate for the server to comment/say anything aobut it;

(2) It's possible, for whatever reason, that a person "can't eat eggs" on a certain day and that not be the case at a later date.  None of the server's business.

Re: I'm Still Stunned.... Warning.... Long explanation.

I think the OP made way way way too much of an issue over this the first time around. I have many food allergies and if I get something I can't eat I just say - I am sorry but I can't eat this , I have allergies - can I have another order of ---- without the ----? Up until this date in time I have never had any issue doing that. However, should you come in again , after making an issue about not wanting ----- and specifically order that .... Well that is pretty questionable. Esp. since you tried to get the guy fired the first time for serving it to you.

Re: I'm Still Stunned.... Warning.... Long explanation.

Hi @Q4u

My husband is also diabetic, Type 2.

Just an FYI, but there's a lot of information out that eating eggs can help reduce the risk of diabetes, four a week they say.

You might want to check with your doctor to see what he or she says, or just do a little reading about it online so you know what to ask.

That said, I don't agree with those here who are acting as if it's all your fault.  Ignore them, not every woman is bold and assertive.

Have a good day Smiley Happy

@151949

I think you missed a lot of the issue, including the fact that the waiter gave her a USED coffee cup which he had only rinsed out for her use.

How did one server being a jerk become "these kids today"? If that's the case then I'm sure you're also fine with stereotypes on seniors. @Nightowlz

@jaxs mom Well I don't know where you live but I can relate to what the OP is saying. There are plenty of them running around here acting just like that.

Re: I'm Still Stunned.... Warning.... Long explanation.

@Q4u

I have had "dealings" with this before...

We were once at a popular Mexican restaurant and heard unrepeatable foul language from our server as he passed though the aisle. I did speak with the manager

who called the young man over. Both were apologetic. My approach was the same as I used with students: more with the intention to help that person be successful in life.

I will start a thread later regarding an online attitude like the one you had to deal with. The business is run by an adult I'm pretty sure. And our interchange online will demonstrate what happens when people refuse to adapt their attitudes and tones with customers as they grow up (grow up?)

Not all situations can be rectified -- it is a real surprise that the owner took no steps.

From WebMD, a credible source, but be sure to check with your doctor FIRST.

Egg-Rich Diet Not Harmful in Type 2 Diabetes

Oct. 9, 2014 -- Eggs don't have a bad effect on cholesterol levels in people with type 2 diabetes, a new study suggests. Researchers also found that eating an egg-rich diet for 3 months was linked to better appetite control, and may also provide a greater sense of feeling full.
